Anecdotal evidence is a deceiving mistress. If you replace “women” with “flat earth” your argument could be taken word for word from a flat earther. Not trying to be an ass hole, but if I held such strong beliefs and my justification for them was based on nothing more than my biased observations, I would be very concerned. Also not quite sure how you’ve observed how I behave in relationships. Or for that matter, anyone else. Relationship dynamics are often very complex and only the two people in…

It seems rather ambitious to make such definitive statements without any real evidence or expertise to back up your claims. This “research” seems equivalent to that of the anti vax movement.

I know that sounds like it makes sense as a comparison, but they aren’t quite the same.

Lawd Jesus. Too much to unpack here mate.

I think this is just confusion regarding the citied statistics. Yes, a correlation does imply a relationship, but it's important to be careful when making assumptions about correlations between two data sets. Human behavior is very complex, and when attempting to identify relationships there are infinite variables to consider. Its important not to confuse spurious correlations as evidence for a relationship. There is also a corelation between child deaths and the number of films nick cage appear…

I can understand why you would come to that conclusion, but you may want to consider the underlying rational for your beliefs are based on simple correlations and not causality. Data can be tricky and misleading. I'm sure I can show you stats that say the higher n count a man has is correlated to increases in child deaths, doesn't mean it has caused that. The act of having sex with lots of people isn't really bad on its own. Humans are dynamic and complex. It never hurts to try to be more unders…

This assumes the population of men on tinder is equal to the population of women. Data can be deceiving my dudes. It’s important to not just accept info because it fits your world view.

I agree with the premise of a lot of what you say, but I feel like there are a few gaps here. Using your justice system point, I totally agree that historically men have been screwed when it comes to custody. I also think historically women have been screwed when it comes to child support, my mom being a really great example. I also understand the rational for alimony, but think it’s justifiable in far less cases now than it was 20+ years ago and the justice system hasn’t quite adapted yet. Howe…

Do we really want to treat people the same way insurance companies do? That seems rather bleak.

That’s a great example. What if we found that men who drink Budweiser are disproportionately likely to be charged with domestic abuse? Does that mean the act of drinking Budweiser causes them to beat their partners? Not quite. The correlation in the notch count doesn’t account for religious differences (lower notch count may be associated with highly religious people who don’t get divorced due to their religious beliefs). If that’s the case, causality would not be notch count, but religious beli…

No one is arguing that women can be deceitful. I think the makeup example is a bit of a stretch, but sure, I can kinda see where you’re coming from, but I think only really extreme examples would qualify as deceit. But is this trait of deceit exclusive to women? Or is it a human trait? We all try to peacock the best we can with what we’ve got.

So it’s bad for females to have equal notch counts because it’s easier for them? I can see why that may be frustrating, but I don’t see why that makes them bad people or justifies any type of anger directed towards them.

I’m more asking why you guys personally feel that way. I’m aware that belief stems from cultural norms, but I personally generally have reasons behind my opinions besides what is generally culturally acceptable. I also understand why that norm evolved over time, but im guessing the underlying rational is no longer relevant.

I think people do that. I don’t think it’s exclusively or even predominantly women. Probably close to equal.

I can see some of your points. I think lying is not super cool and seems pretty immature to me. I understand young girls doing this maybe because they just haven’t matured yet. However, I feel like the tone of this post implies that women are inherently dishonest and this behavior isn’t limited to a few misguided, but non malicious women. Also, I agree that hyperpromiscuity is kinda gross, but I think that depends on your definition. I also think it’s probably just a sign of other issues and not…

Could you specify exactly why they are different in my example?

But I’m not sure the asymmetrical aspects you’ve identified have any bearing on why, objectively, a man sleeping with 100 women is any more or less acceptable than a women sleeping with 100 men.

But why this specifically. I don’t understand why men sleeping around wouldn’t be the same, just on its own.

Why wouldn’t it just be the same as if the guy had slept with lots of women?

I do do maths! While the data you cited may be true - not sure but let’s just assume it is - that’s just really a correlation and doesn’t prove any type of causality between the two data points. Lots of stuff is correlated

So what exactly is so bad about being a slut? Assuming she has no STDs or other potentially harmful issues, what exactly bothers you about women sleeping with lots of dude?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
