Ew. How do I unread this? If you allow a woman to make the rules she will resent you with a seething contempt even a rapist cannot inspire. Seriously. What the fuck?

It's also a balancing act. Try the very best that you can, but also forgive yourself. You can't be perfect at everything. You can't be perfect at anything. You can only be the best goddamn you you can be. Try your best to do that.

maintain perspective: always tell experiences from your point of view Good point. On OKCupid there's a section of your profile that asks you about your favorite music, movies, tv, etc. I feel like the worst thing you can do is just list out your favorite tv shows and bands. It means absolutely nothing. What I do is focus on my favorite band (for music). And explain why that band (Pink Floyd) means so much to me. Someone reading it can instantly relate and might form a stronger bond if they agree…

This seems less like being aloof and more like always having a clever comeback. Not bad advice but I'm not sure aloofness quite describes it.

Might I also suggest therapy? If you truly have a a severe-to-moderate self esteem problem there are certainly things you can do for yourself, but a therapist might be better equipped to identify and solve the root of your problem.

I'm pretty sure every story written on the internet is exaggerated.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
