I mean that it's getting cost-prohibitive to rent anything. With wages staying stagnant but rent prices skyrocketing, rent is now 40% of a person's income, as opposed to 20% a decade ago. That's not to mention extreme places like LA and NY that require up to 80%. What happens when renting becomes so unaffordable that those with bad credit can't even manage?

There is something that bothers me about this. Rental prices are already extremely high. If you look at all the data, you realize that renting is currently a shit deal, even more than usual ($600 for mortgage vs $900 for monthly rent, or something crazy). This is, of course, due to low lending rates to encourage homeowners since the bubble burst. So richer folks can buy more, but those with bad credit can't (due to increased scrutiny from lenders). There are already a bunch of people doing what …

This is very different from your usual posts, /u/IllimitableMan . I'm fond of reading your well-written articles and insight, and I'm surprised to see you make this type of rant/venting post. Are you experimenting with a new writing style, or did you just need to blow off steam?

You are correct that being a head of household is masculine, and nobody can fault you for wanting to be a father. However, there are some serious problems with modern marriage that most men never consider until it's too late. Here is a brief excerpt from IllimitableMen's article called, "THE CHOICE". I encourage you to read the entire thing, as it respectfully details the benefits and risks involved in modern marriage. From the moment [a man] has said “I do”, a looming sword of Damocles stalks h…

You call that, 'fat'? She looks like she's less than 300 lbs. Not even close to the time I got 'catfished'.

For beginners, read the fucking sidebar, it's ultimately about getting pussy! Not quite. It's ultimately about deciding the sexual strategy that works for you. I don't understand the apparent dissonance between these two statements. Unless you're gay, sexual strategy and getting pussy are the same thing.

"I'm not playing chess" is not the same thing as playing chess.

No, he's right. Very first thing on the sidebar: The Red Pill: Discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men. Each of those subcategories you mention plays a role in modern sexual strategy, which is why they're relevant. Understanding biology is fundamental to understanding human behavior. Getting fit raises your SMV. Maintaining an LTR involves maintaining access to a pussy (unless you like being cucked?). And Men's Rights is about understanding how…

I suspect the more common reason is just because men grow up with a preconceived notion about what their life plan should be. The ideal life is lauded by friends, family, society, and culture: Go to college, get a good job (where you'll work for 40 years), find a good girl, buy a ring at 3 months salary, get married, have kids, and retire. Every TV show, song, movie, cartoon, parent, teacher, mentor, friend, and corporation seems to endorse this life. It isn't until the boys are much older that …

Don't get a degree in anything that's not S.T.E.M. or the field of law. And only get a degree if you are SURE about what you want to do. Do NOT go "undecided".

It's admittedly a little bit troublesome that we use the phrase AWALT, because it can be interpreted as oversimplifying women. You are getting dangerously close to concern-trolling. AWALT mean AWALT. As in, ALL WOMEN ARE LIKE THAT. Emphasis on the ALL. I'm going to quote a post by /u/red-curry because he nailed it earlier: "all women are like that" means "all women are hypergamous". It doesn't mean they all cheat, it just means all women have the instinctual drive to associate with the highest v…

On the other hand, getting a few easy targets is a good way to build confidence, which in turn makes it easier to go after higher-value bounties.

A recall a story told by an EMT: A young man was involved in an accident and rushed to the hospital. His family was there and watched him die. The father was a rock while the mother and sister sobbed into his chest. After all the visitors and family had left, only the father remained. Alone in the room with his son's body, he fell to his knees and wailed in anguish. Grieving is normal.

There's a lot of useless advice in these comments, including sexual shame and the cliche "Do the right thing" feminist bullshit. im wondering if i should dump her outright or tell her that i will only accept non-exclusivity. In other circumstances, I'd advice for honesty, but having mutual friends complicates things. If you tell her the truth (I'm not satisfied with sex-with-you everyday. I want to fuck other women), then you earn the reputation of being an ungrateful manwhore. A clean break is …

Dilbert is a simple, comic strip that makes fun of absurd business practices. It is in every newspaper, and is therefore designed to be very inoffensive. You are projecting your beliefs onto a cartoon. This random woman is not a "plate" that Dilbert is spinning. She is a one-off character that Dilbert meets, offends, and never sees again.

He had no self-esteem due to the lack of positive reinforcement. Combine that with the fact that he never had a good model for a healthy relationship.

That's too bad. You are, of course, not responsible for either of your parents behavior, and you are not obliged to fix their relationship, especially when it puts your own well-being at risk. You might get more advice from the raisedbynarcissists subreddit. EDIT - removed link because automod bot got angry

Here's an idea: Your dad won't stand up for himself, but you could do it. Not in a direct "stop treating him like that" way, because that obviously won't work, but every time she yells at him for something insignificant, you can drop little comments. "You're screaming because he got the wrong ice cream flavor? Thank God I'm never getting married..." or "Wow, you gave her $500 to buy new shoes and she didn't even say thank you. Women are so ungrateful..." Punish her behavior by making her think t…

Your bro sounds beta as hell. Instead of doing what HE wanted to do, he did what she wanted to do (in other words, he lost frame. He probably paid for the dinner, too). If your brother doesn't cut her off immediately, then he will continue to suffer.

Huh. I just checked- I'm similarly banned from posting/commenting on that sub. I've only made 3 comments on this subreddit (and usually just correct somebody's grammar or math) but I guess that's enough to get me banned. Meh.

The entire reason you wrote this post is because you are trying to help other men, right? Officially documenting this behavior might help somebody else down the line too.

Can't we all just agree to drop the fancy-and-difficult-to-spell french word and just call them "appetizers"?
/r/TheRedPill01/07/15 04:34 PM

This is a small correction and doesn't affect your main point, but your math is a bit off: For example, assuming that perfect genes do exist and that each individual male has a one in a million chance of being endowed with the perfect genes, a population of one hundred males would have only a one in ten thousand (0.01%) chance of including a perfect male (producing perfect offspring), whereas a population of one million males has a one in one (100%) chance of including a perfect male (producing …

The military isn't a cure-all solution to being a loser. You only get out what you put in. I signed up because I felt lost and hoped the Marine Corps would give me a sense of purpose (it didn't). But I didn't just put ink to paper and wait for my ship-out date. I ran everyday. I joined a group of recruits and we pre-trained (running, sprinting, pullups, pushups, etc). I ran several miles per week. In bootcamp, you could tell who actually put effort in, and who just wanted a quick fix. Guys like …

The language policing really gets me. I feel the opposite about this one, actually. Changing 'Fireman' and 'Policeman' to 'Fire Fighter' and 'Police Officer' isn't about misleading public perception-- it's about removing mental barriers. Girls can grow up to be competent officers, but fewer would do so if they perceived it to be a men-only job. Likewise, divorcing gender from occupation removes the barriers for boys to become nurses, 'stewardesses', and 'barmaids'. Fighting against gender-neutra…
