Have tried it, would NOT recommend. The problem with attempting this is that you cannot replicate the conditions of the study. The participants were independently put into an emotional situation with partners preselected to have good interpersonal chemistry, and they were told that the study was about getting close with their partner and enjoying themselves. The first part is describing turning an online match into a date, the second was about getting a date with a girl you met at bar or somewhere else in real life. Hope that clarifies it.

These are two different situations. If you initially meet the woman in person (and not online), you are going to have much better success if you escalate or make plans for a future meeting before getting her number. This way, she would have to actually blow off a verbal commitment to flake on you.
