That absolutely works both ways and this section from the original post resonated a lot with my feelings of a divorced man I’ve noticed this in myself lately, I do not have eye contact with men when walking, I wear headphones, I help only women, I am polite to men, but never friendly unless it’s my partner, my brothers or my father. After having a very bad divorce, reading up on a lot of similar stories from men and, ever worse, hearing some similar stories from people I personally know, I start…

independently saying Unless you can verify at least the source and its legitimacy, I would still argue it is close to useless. Amazon product reviews are one of the most notorious examples in our daily lives. Look at any of the Chinese products having thousands of 5-star reviews over 2 months span, while similar products from established brands may have 100 reviews over several years. At this point, for example, I would take a personal recommendation from someone I know over any kind of online r…

Yeah, but what would be the "bar" for people to get added to this registry? I had a temporary restraining order against myself for many months as this is a very popular divorce tactic in the state I used to lived in. It has never been checked, investigated, we never had a court hearing - it was basically a way for my ex and her attorney to make the process faster. I had plenty of issues because of it as-is, and I would certainly not want such a baseless thing in my public record. As it is right …

I am a member of a few landlord/tenant groups and almost every day there are new stories published like "don't rent to Jane Doe as she's a jobless addict with fake reference and stops paying almost immediately". You go to a local court system website (and those are public records!), put Jane Doe's name ... and - voila - 5 or 6 eviction lawsuits against her over the last 5 years (so, yep, the poster is not lying...) BUT then the main question would be to the poster itself - why the heck haven't y…

She didn't divorce my father but had that happened she would've been perfectly safe. As a divorced man I would say that this was the setup I've always been wishing for - for my spouse to be "self-sufficient". This setup frees up another spouse's hands and give him/her the opportunity to pursue much riskier (and much more financially rewarding) jobs over more stable, yet not so well-paid ones, for the benefit of the family as a whole. Well, maybe next time lol.

As I like to joke, my barely filled LinkedIn profile landed me way more friendly conversations (and two or three jobs) than conversations or let alone matches on Tinder lol.

we can never be too careful Oh yeah, many years ago I made a mistake of registering with Nextdoor. To call it a cancer would be a huge understatement lol - I am happy that I don't live in that f'ed up area anymore and of course that I don't register on Nextdoor. Some local hyper-active moms were running witch hunts every other day against people walking around the pond or - god forbid - stopping their car in front of a park to grab a lunch. What also was surprising me most was that they were app…

C'mon, I've been called a creep just for driving "way too slow" back and forth through the neighborhood in a broad daylight and searching for a specific house number. For some people this is just a reality of interacting with others - being "labeled a creep before any interaction even happens". Ask me how I know lol.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
