Wet is exactly the counterpart of airy when it comes to a liquid or a gas coming in contact with a solid/liquid. A wet towel, watery diarrhea. A wet shirt, a watery serving of whisky. Wet doesn't simply mean "something that is in contact with water". It means a "solid being saturated with a liquid". Not water in particular. Water is not wet. No, it's when something that is made out of a solid contains air within itself. Same as water. I don't know how this is a discussion.
