Brexit was the start. Before Brexit, Soros was long on Gold and short on the market. On Brexit 3 things happened. The pound/sterling got crushed, Gold skyrocketed and the market fell that circuit breakers were triggered shutting down trading for 30 minutes(in the Asian markets). Soros was 2 out of 2 and those moves were big enough that it would normally take a couple of weeks to a month for it to happen normally.
