Depends which country you grew up in I guess. It was common in the UK circa 1970s for women to control the finances, pay bills etc. There was obviously no internet or telephone banking so the women used to do that stuff whilst the men were at work.

Same with my parents although I'm nearly 50 so it might be a generational thing. I sure as hell didn't do the same with my ex wife when we were still married.
