My ex fought with every fiber of her being to have child support continue for 2 adult kids who hadn't qualified for child support in several years. I finally got emancipated when it was revealed that the kids were not full time students and had been working full time for years. I think for many of these woman, especially if they have cluster b personality disorder, if they can steal a nickel from you it gives them an orgasmic thrill. They want to spend the rest of their lives waging war against …

My ex went on match 15 months after the divorce with a photo that was at least 8 years old probably closer to 10. oh, and the photo was taken by me, in our kitchen.

My financial support finally ended last april, I have made significant progress since then. but to be honest, i will probably always retain some anger over the money.

In recent photos my kid uploaded to facebook, my ex is the biggest I've ever seen her, she's 5'4 and she looks like she passed 200 lbs. I actually pity her new husband.

their Mother is a level 10 narcissist, a covert one, the worst kind. Who alienated me from the kids from the time they were very small.

Take as much time as you need to heal, every divorce is different. I'm almost 7 years out and am still healing, in my case it's severe parental alienation, i have 2 adult children who I have no relationship with.

NJ 2 kids salary year of divorce 2017; me 170k her 200k year of emancipation 2023: me 105k, her 375+k other: 1/2 of college tuition for a combined 10 years between the two kids ultimately to have them both dropout. Found out in court as i pursued emancipation neither kid had qualified for child support or tuition reimbursement for 3 years monthly support $1250

Everybody's situation is different. A young man get's divorced in his 20's, no kids, a quick settlement, that's a divorce that he probably will overcome very quickly. Other's can be much more difficult to get over for example, lifetime alimony. I can't imagine how you could ever stop being angry at someone when you have to pay them until one of you is dead. As for myself, I have been doing better once my financial obligations were over with.

Take as long as you need. I would say as a strarting point, the 20% rule is a good yardstick. I think for a lot of men, the healing doesn't start until the financial consequences are over with.

Mine is a level 10 Narcissist who I had to drag into court earlier this year to get emancipated from my adult children. The judge destroyed her. I guarantee she is consumed with rage every day against me. You take down a narcissist, they will hate you the rest of their lives.

I don't know if i was forced into it, but I did agree to it. When i got divorced my ex was making $200k a year I was making $170k. I'm from NJ. Due to extreme parental Alienation, I was cut off from my kids. ultimately, 5 years later i bought a case for emancipation. in discovery, I found out they hadn't qualified for child support in years, they had been working full time year round, going to school part time, sometimes only taking 1 class a semester. 5 years post divorce, close to 150k in cs a…

No, but in the end i bought an action to be emancipated which the Judge granted me. She actually had the nerve to try and get child support extended beyond the age of the statue. these were adults kids, turns out they were both working full time, sometimes skipping entire semesters, going part time to school. $80k in support and tuition those last three years, both kids dropped out.

By the time my child support was over, she was making over $400k a year and I was making $105k. Sh was also remarried, and had several million in pension and 401k, living in a mansion.

it DEPENDS on the STATE Absolutely. In NJ, child support can go to age 23 if they attend college,

How does your life changes after divorce? In my case, i became a financial sponsor of a family i was no longer a part of. It's only been since April that I got emancipated, my emotional state has been improving since then.

You went through mediation in New Jersey? You both had attorneys ? Or just the one attorney? Two attorneys. The attorney who does the mediation cannot represent you in a divorce. So, you have one attorney do the mediation and them your financial agreement is passed off onto another attorney Why did you get emancipated from adult kids? They wanted that or you did ? Is it financially better to do that ? Emancipation-termination fo financial support. In my case, cs and half of tuition.

my divorce was cheap. went through mediation, it cost about |$3500. Getting emancipated from my adult kids years later was much more expensive and difficult. cost me $7000 to get emancipated from my adult kids, who it turns out hadn't qualified for cs in years. iN NJ, they must be full time students and cannot work full time. Also support is over regardless at 23. took eight months to get that resolved, the judge wrecked her.

You were a means to an end. The children were her primary goal. Once the kids are older and the assets of the marriage and future support make it possible for them to leave, they often do.

How do you deal emotionally with unfairness and the villain of your story getting away with it and getting a payday? For me, i realized that I am not alone in what happened to me, woman using men and then tossing them away seems to be the order of the day.

After 22 years of marriage, we had almost a million in assets. She got half. So out of her half a million, her one and only contribution to this was about $25k that was a down payment on our first home. I'm 57, and I'm worth close to $700k. If I hadn't gotten married, or left the marriage early before kids, I'de be worth at least 2.5 million.

I hate to tell you this, but you have yet to find out how bad a blue state like NJ can be for divorced dads. Child support in NY, NJ and MA can go to 23 if they attend college.

My ex tried to get it extended out passed the kids 24th birthday citing depression. The judge saw thru this and cited the kid has been working full time and choosing to only attend a couple classes each semester. I got emancipated last month. If you don't mind sharing, was your daughter's diagnosis depression?

Don't even let a woman leave a toothbrush in your bathroom. Stay on top of things when they are in college. Be aware of the rules that must be met for support to continue past the age of 18. CS is not for them to work full time and take the 8-10 year college route.

We bought our case asking they be emancipated since last fall. Both my attorney and I were unaware the fraud/theft had been going on for years. Both kids were emancipated, the Judge will not give you more than you ask for.

Your fears were my reality. My oldest will be 24 in September, that will be the beginning of her 7th year in college. God only knows when she will finish. 8 maybe 9 years for a 4 year degree? She is posting on facebook about becoming a nurse, she and her mother can figure it out. I got emancipated from her, the transcripts showed she hadn't been a full time student since 2020 and had been working full time for years.
/r/Divorce_Men10/04/23 04:07 PM

Even if they did, there's nothing that can be done. I asked my attorney about this and he said pursuing this outside of family court is a no go. My ex refused to supply a transcript for the 21 yo, this was grounds for emancipation. My guess would be they were engaging in "drop add fraud" to a certain extent. In other words, registering full time for classes, sending me an invoice to pay half, then immediately cancelling some or all of the classes. The college would then credit back the majority …

This was NJ, so it's child support until 23 if they are college students. I had to pay half of tuition as well. It varies state to state See my post history, working full time, attending classes part time, skipping a semester, or failing to COMPLETE 12 credits a semester can be grounds for being emancipated. It sucks, cause it looks like neither kid wanted to be enrolled, they were there half assed so mom could continue getting cs. It doesn't look like either one of them will graduate.

I'll go through the numbers, but I estimate I paid $150,000 of support post divorce. This for two kids who are now 21 and 23. did they get their college degrees? Fuck no. The oldest is now going into her 7th year of college. I got emancipated from both of them, my ex can now foot the bill for these adult kids. I'm willing to bet though, she will now start charging the kids rent and telling them they can now finish college on their own.

First of all, my condolences. Nj is horrible for divorce, CS can go to age 23 if they are college students. have your msa reference gac v gac and black v black. The black case can help you down the road in case of parental alienation.

We had been married almost 20 years and it was the same vacations every time. Either Disneyworld, or some resort in the Dominican republic. I finally decided I had enough of it and planned a two week road trip of the southwest. She said "Married men don't go on vacations by themselves". I told her "I'm going to see the grand canyon before i die."
