In the movie "the last temptation of Christ" the character of satan (in the form of a little girl) tells Jesus "there is only one woman with many faces." That always stuck with me.

She didn't break her wedding vows because she saw a movie. She broke her wedding vows because she is a shitty person. I am not defending her actions but rather defending the idea of people using movies and fiction as illustrations without facing condescension purely on those grounds. If she had quoted shakespeare instead or some shit then it would be exactly the same thing as quoting whatever shitty movie she likes. I guess I am expecting too much of this community to withhold from the low hangi…

I've not seen this kate winslet movie, but I'm confident that if she were using the scene metaphorically then she would have received the exact same ridicule. I just hate seeing ad hominem especially when there is so much more material to criticize in this post. "This chick likes bad movies and is stupid" is basically all that boils down to. Ad hominem is a lazy and childish form of criticism.

If EVER you doubted women take cues on to how live their lives from movies.... theredpill really needs to change it's fucking name to something else if it's going to continue to denigrate people who use movies and works of fiction to illustrate things about their life. This is how this shit sounds: "Some girl takes life cues from a Kate Winslet movie, what a dummy!" "So, there's this sci fi movie with Keanu Reeves, it's like a great illustration of...No, it's different when we do it!"

I've also noticed media playing up the negative to paint an unrealistic picture of how bad things are in order to increase page views. For example, the fucking weather channel. Every morning I check my "the weather channel" app (I only use this one because it shows hourly wind direction). EVERY SINGLE DAY is a state of emergency. There is always a little red banner of SEVERE WEATHER WARNING. If it's a bright sunny 75 degree day... then it's a FIRE WARNING. Fire could spread at any minute! (I don…

Yes, loving yourself and learning to have control over your life are red pill values and essential to having a healthy outlook on life. Here is the thing. Fred Rogers says "I like you just the way you are." He imparts a message of inherent self worth that is desperately needed in many people's lives. However, this could be seen as complacency. Redpill says "pull yourself up by your bootstraps and become the man you want to be" not "you are fine just the way you are." Seems incompatible to me.

This really dodging the question. "He had a mission, he stuck to it and became successful." Would you admire a feminist writer who has become successful from sticking to her mission? The heart of the question is, are the values that Fred Rogers embodied compatible with red pill ideology?

At college age, people are all pretty much still in the potential phase. No one has achieved much. At this stage of life it is common for women to choose young men based on future speculation. Shortly after school, it becomes sink or swim. You will need to achieve something quickly, because soon your competitors will be guys who are stacking up achievements. It's a bitter pill for many men who can't get it together soon enough. All the speculative interest goes away, and women are looking for ac…

I also work in advertising (and do ok at it) and I also went to art school. I really don't see the two as having anything to do with one another, and I certainly would never use a phrase like "my fine arts degree set me for success" lol. Advertising is not art. I am a bit taken aback by anyone who claims to know or care anything for true art who also considers advertising to have any spark of true creativity to it. I see art schools (and I went to a top NYC one) as overpriced daycare centers and…

You say Somalia is a horrible example because they have "been at war for decades." This comment says more than you meant it to. It says that "in order for this anarchy thing to work, we need an idealized model of a society that has no problems." Unfortunately, no societies are a perfect candidate. WE are at war and have been for over a decade. There is no ideal country or ideal circumstance. The world is fucked. It is a dream to think it would work somehow magically with the way things are any b…

I think government services are like IT; when they're doing things right, no one can tell they've done anything at all. It may not seem like things are ordered in such a way that it helps you out, but it is. You think the government has never prevented you from being robbed? You think if the government evaporated tomorrow that everyone would "live and let live" if you were in possession of desirable resources? Your wife would be up against a wall and your house would no longer be yours as soon a…

If you get the benefits of living in a society then you gotta pay taxes. It ain't perfect, and the govt wastes a shit ton, but for most the only way you were able to build any wealth is because you live in an ordered society with laws protecting you. Otherwise some warlord asshole would stick a machine gun in your face and confiscate all your wealth in about 5 minutes. That is the reality of anarchy.

There are plenty of one-sided male friendships where one is taking advantage of the other. Don't pretend they are all some pure male bond of equality. Also friendships with women can be equal. Just don't be friends with anyone who is not putting in equal effort. I am tired of this theme: take a good example of a male friendship and generalize it into a universal truth. Take a bad example of a female friendship and do the same. It's possible to have real female friends. Just be careful not to do …

First off, I have no agenda here. I am just taking the basic OP model (if you are oppressed, it is evidence that you are inferior) which he raises regarding gender and applying it to race. You seem to have a much greater knowledge of history than me, so you tell me: Overall, are white people the oppressors of history, or the oppressed? Are you giving examples that are the exception to the rule or do you believe the rule is that brown people have oppressed white people overall? Would you call it …

It is not a fair comparison if you are going to include regions where there are no white people around. That would be like saying "there is this one island that is all female, and women have risen to the top there." Races are not mixed together evenly geographically the way gender is. No matter where you go, there will be a roughly even number of men and women, but there may be no white people around for 4000 miles. But wherever you do find white people in the past 2000 years or so of history, y…

I suppose the most objective way to quantify an accurate picture of success distributed by race would be census data. Average income compared to white is lower for black overall and by region. Asian is highest though, above white as of 2010 census I believe.
/r/TheRedPill17/12/14 06:03 PM

The question then becomes is Russell Wilson an average representative of his race? If he is just a statistical anomaly then the argument stands. Bringing up outliers would be like saying global warming is not real because there are some really cold days in the winter. The average still paints a different picture. Again it is an uncomfortable discussion but it is based on the same foundation used to argue the point against gender.
/r/TheRedPill17/12/14 04:59 PM

I can't see this argument slowing down any feminist for a second. They would just immediately counter "systemic oppression/patriarchy." You could make the same argument for race. "Why do the white people always come out on top? I guess they are just smarter, better at dominating, etc." Approaching it from race rather than gender may make many uncomfortable, but it has the same exact logical basis. The counter argument for both of these is "systemic oppression keeps them down. The oppression is i…

I doubt it. I occasionally work with some of these people and I think they pretty much exist in a bubble where they are not even aware of sjw or fat acceptance or any of that. They spend their lives surrounded by models, photographers, art directors, brunch at balthazar's and trips to St. Bart's. I doubt it even occurred to any high ranking person at vs that this may be offensive to someone.

Well, it's a moot point unless you were to truly like this person back in the same way. What are the odds of that.

"Mistaking inertia for loyalty" is so true. Dressing it up as a positive attribute so we can feel good about ourselves. It seems you have hit a nerve though, judging by the downvotes and replies. We should not fool ourselves in this way. We should cast aside our "brothers on the battlefield" narrative that we tell ourselves when really we're too lazy or scared to get out of a shit relationship.

Don't think those numbers are realistic. 20k/yr is 384/wk. how could you possibly get a maid, escort and a week of well prepared food all for that amount? Never mind a "mid to top tier" escort, which I assume is probably 300+ alone. Besides, the reality is you need to save more than 10k/yr for retirement, unless you want to work for a hundred years. Also things like car, insurance, clothes, phone, vacations, hobbies, etc are not factored in. I would say you need more like 125k/yr+ to make this a…

Totally. I try to intentionally leave healthy foods simple and bland to train myself to be content with that. It is an easy concept for people to grasp when it comes to feeding their dogs; don't spoil them or they won't eat their usual food. If I saw someone with a fat, diabetic dog I would say they are a terrible owner. But for some reason people don't apply this simple logic to themselves.

Meh. Sounds like he should have paid her whatever she was asking. Tactical error on his part. Thought she was bluffing or that he could spin it. Don't feel sorry for him because he was foolish enough to place any trust in her in the first place.

As I said, they are invisible. When is the last time you got to know a middle aged ugly woman? I'm not saying all of them possess those good traits inherently, I'm saying it's possible which seems untrue of attractive girls. I see so many posts saying "I took home this dumb blonde with a spray tan and tramp stamp and she turned out to be a shitty person! AWALT!" There are lots of ugly girls who go on to be doctors, engineers, etc who read books and have interests and all that. It's just an inter…

You're forgetting unattractive women, since they are largely invisible in all discussion here. I believe there are many unattractive women who possess all the desired traits of honor, character, intelligence, empathy, etc. and I don't think it is a coincidence. We are shaped by our environment to a large extent, and undesirable women are not offered the same praise and ass kissing hot girls get from the second they hit puberty (or before.) Hot girls are conditioned to be shallow assholes their e…

It's not even a matter of asking you. The college age equivalent question would be "where do you go to school?" Whether someone asks you directly or not, they sort of find out. If the answer is an Ivy, that's equivalent of being a high earner later. If answer is state school, that's average. Saying "nowhere, I work at a gas station" is the equivalent of being a low earning wage slave later in life. It's reality. You can "next" all the people you want, but having a shitty apt, no saving, no money…

Ugh, you guys are so young. You will find out in your 30s that having money=status and nothing else matters. I remember being in college where nobody had a real career, it was easy to act like hot shit. Once you get older, you better have something impressive to tell people when they ask what you do, since that becomes your entire identity. It sucks but it's true.

Nah, they are out there. I knew a dude who never lifted but had the natural build of someone who does. He said he tried it before but didn't like it because his biceps got "too big."

The problem with this is that it takes way way more money just to "get by" than many young people realize. When you are talking about taking care of the basic necessities, you are only describing current expenses. However, you have to think about your whole life: if you are going to live until you are 90, and you want to stop working by the time you're 65, that's 25 fucking years worth of money you have to save up between now and then. If you live off 30k (in today's dollars) that's at least 750…

I live in NYC and I used to work with this stupidly hot black girl from France. She had truly perfect hips and ass and would wear yoga pants most days. She told me random dudes (mostly black) would straight up follow her for blocks every single day on multiple occasions. She would just pretend they weren't there and keep walking, but I swear to christ I walked with her two blocks once and two different dudes told her to smile.

I once saw a fashionable, attractive young woman in soho wearing Louboutin stilettos fall down the stairs to the train and dislocate her shoulder. She was on the ground crying in pain as a crowd developed around her. I will never understand high heels, it seems like you can hardly fucking walk in them. I assume only an insecure person would wear something expensive and uncomfortable to appear more attractive. I guess that is useful information to broadcast about yourself though.

Pretty good chance. My ex would always tell me about her girlfriends cheating and then going on like nothing happened in their relationships. It was always the same. None of them are the "type" to do it either. They are just normal girls who sound a lot like OPs girlfriend. They saw it as "one time thing," "crazy circumstances," etc. But it sure seemed to happen to a lot of girls. For all I know she did it too. No matter now though.

You are thinking of liberal feminism only. Radical feminist thought agrees with you about trans ideology harming feminism. There is actually great animosity between trans exclusionary radical feminists and trans activists. TERFs refuse to use preferred pronouns, believe biological sex is an immutable trait, and are often dismissed by liberals as "transphobic."

This is a tough choice for /r/theredpill. On the one hand, there is a great opportunity to be intolerant of trans people. On the other hand, being intolerant of trans people puts you in agreement with radical feminists. What to do? (For any who may not know, radical feminists have raised the ire of the trans community by claiming that wearing a dress and chopping off your dick does not make you a woman.)

Depends on what you mean by naked. Topless, I would say men have the advantage. It is much more socially acceptable for men to go shirtless in many more situations than women. Completely naked? I don't really know many instances of either gender receiving praise or scorn for random public nudity.

You realize this is directed towards men, yes? "Come to our bar, there will be lots of sluts here." Would not say it is a sexism issue either way, just a marketing tactic for the kind of people I would not want to be around.
