don't always need the newest phone sure that phone with 10 cameras, extra lights and lots of pixels may look nice, but what else do you need for it. If anything it's in the bottom list of wants and a functional touch screen phone is already luxurious enough. In a few years there will be 4k resolution phones, but there's no point in 4k when your screen's size is 6 inches.
