I think so, too. I wonder if the programmer (?) used the population age as another variable instead of as the parameters for the sample. If you’re looking at the US male population, “Percentage with XYZ and also A age range” is automatically a much smaller percentage than “when looking at age range A, here is the percentage of men with XYZ.” I don’t know if I explained that correctly, but the explanation on the site can be read either way, so that’s my guess.

I totally agree with that, especially in our current late stage capitalist hellhole. I read it more as “your skills, education, and talent,” though. My parents, for instance, didn’t teach me a whole lot of useful life skills, but they were adamant that I focus on my education and my career before devoting too much time to trying to find a partner. Now, no matter what happens, I’ll always have my degrees and my career path, and I’ll never have to rely on a partner for survival.
