This is going to be my final comment, because the point of me coming to this subreddit was to learn more about the opposing side, and to try to have some civilized conversation. The civilized concept was obviously too much to ask for lol. I will take a look at the link you've posted, as I do truly believe in trying to understand multiple perspectives, and hope you'll take the time to listen to some other feminist opinions as well. From what I've seen of the people in this subreddit, they are not…

I will be the first to admit that I have not done enough for equality on either side. I am not in a position to revoke laws against men or laws against women. I think that the most important thing I can do as an individual at the moment is call out and acknowledge both sides for rights which the other side lacks. If you know a surefire way to remove harmful laws from governments worldwide, you let me know.

You're not important in this case. If I had a dollar for everytime... but I digress So then curious, how would you describe my beliefs?

That is disgusting and I am ashamed by them. I am also disgusted by the, as you said millions, of people who routinely advocate against women and their rights and equality

I have learned feminism from observing others, as you have implied I should, and I have found countless examples I have wanted to follow. My next action was to then see how the word was defined, to see if I align with it, and I do. When I say I am a feminist, I mean the dictionary definition of feminism. I don't see what other definition of the word I could follow.

I don't think you understand what gaslighting is. I have simply stated my opinions, in no way undermining anybody else's. If you read the rest of this thread, you will see that I am truly interested in understanding other perspectives, and have no fantasies about changing other people's minds.

And neither are women's rights. I want women's and men's rights to be equal, as i said, which is why I call myself a feminist

That is not what i am saying. I define myself as a feminist. I believe in equal rights for men and women. That means that men and women should be believed when they speak up against sexual assualt. That means men and women should be considered equally and fairly when they fight for custody of their children. (These are a couple of men's rights arguments i have commonly seen used against feminists) That also means that women and men should have the same chances at education and careers. That also…

Huh okay. Again, i highly doubt I'll be able to change your mind, I'm just asking questions since i am genuinely curious. Do you think all feminists fall under that category, and if not, what should they be called?

I disagree with your statement, but I don't think that's a disagreement we'll be able to settle. I am curious though, what is your definition of feminism?

Feminism according to the Cambridge dictionary (though you could pick any one and they'd say more or less the same thing): the belief that women should be allowed the same rights, power, and opportunities as men

And this is indeed the definition of feminism 🙃

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
