Essentially, toxic people suck.

It's an excellent start. Emotional abuse is still largely ignored but small steps are important.

You see someone uncomfortable or scared, ask if they need help. If a friend is accused of something, don't automatically defend them. If a friend confides in you don't ask what they're wearing or what they did or if they just regret it. The gender of the victim and abuser is irrelevant.

Unfortunately it's rare for men to protect each other from from sexual abuse either. Note I didn't specify gender when I spoke about victims. Victim blaming is when people believe the fault lies in the victims actions not the abuser. It's quite common.

It just gets frustrating how few men are willing to call out other guys for their behavior but instead victim blame.

It's really sad that you think a man's penis makes a woman dirty. Says a lot more about yourself then you realize.

Everything you wrote is scientifically incorrect. You're already on the internet, I implore you to educate yourself on basic biology because ignorance like this will only hurt you in the long run. Racism, sexism, classism, these ignorant beliefs are all based on misinformation and willful ignorance. It's 2018, there's no excuse to believe such stupidity.

Hey now, don't lump sluts in with cheaters. Nothing wrong with being a slut anymore, sex is awesome and it's time women got to enjoy it too.

Sure, if you believe in straw feminists. Fortunately feminism is all about equal rights for all, male and female. The word has gotten some flack lately, not sure why. But that doesn't change the facts.

There'd be cracks about her being a whore, questions about what she wore, and comments on what she probably did to ask for it. Both scenarios show our society has a lot of work to do, virtually all rape victims get no support from society, gender is irrelevant.

Cops don't arrest people without cause. A child's testimony isn't enough to warrant an arrest. Again, without evidence nothing can be done.
/r/PussyPassDenied05/04/17 01:04 PM

It doesn't matter, unless there's evidence nothing happens. There is rarely evidence in a rape case, which is why so few are convicted, like any legal scenario. In this case unless she had a rape kit done the police would have been unable to do anything.

I have to argue that women don't automatically get help. There are more resources, yes, but there's not enough for everyone who needs it no matter the gender. It's only anecdotal but when I was homeless I was told to go back to my rapist because he didn't beat me up for the women's shelter only helps those leaving abusive partners. I was told this at the sexual assault center.

I've lost quite a few friends over the years, trying to help him or her out of an abusive situation. Breaks my heart, seeing a friend with bruises but defending the abuser. This needs to be on billboards everywhere, abuse is awful but too common.

I'm shocked she got anything. Over 95% of rapists never get jail time. Most cases are dismissed by prosecutors because rape cases are hard to win.

This has nothing to do with being raped. I regret sharing my story. It seems everyone agrees it was my fault, anyway. I will continue to feel like a loser whore now.

This story isn't fictional. And this was an anecdotal tangent on what a common rape scene is like. I am a female so the example is of my rape; I cannot easily provide a rape scenario for a male because I have not experienced it.
/r/MensRights07/07/11 07:03 PM

I never argued that men can't get raped. Was just providing an anecdotal story that is actually a common occurrence. It is pretty easy to decide who got raped, though, by who feels sick and ashamed and dirty just thinking about that night...

I agree that stereotyping is awful. But consider this scnerio: Four friends were partying at their house. Mad sex were had until dawn. One girl, exhausted, drunk, and ready to pass out, goes to lie down. Her friend was already in the bed. She leaves to find somewhere else when he gets up and follows her to the kitchen. Half awake she mentions her intent on passing out. He begins to hug her, kissing her neck. She steps away, says she is not interested right now and moves to lie down on the couch.…

Gods, I am so fucking sorry you had to go through that. Still going through that. I would recommend (very very highly) to find a shrink to talk this shit over. Like anyone who needs a psychologist, you will have to hunt around for someone who empathizes with your needs. It will be difficult - I am sure you will have to hear a lot of ignorant statements - but worth it. Nothing like an objective ear to cry to. Try meetup.com, there MIGHT be a male rape survivor group that meets in your area. To he…

Maybe so but don't compare to incomparable things. On a side note, almost no rapists are punished. Most survivors are too afraid to come forward, and even if one did, it is hard to persecute so the majority are thrown out.

As you argue, men don't die from paternity fraud. They die from the psychological impact, or from abuse in prison. I just feel uncomfortable with comparing rape with paternity fraud. They are both awful but in very different ways. Like comparing getting mugged with having one's house burn down.

I have no argument against legalizing prostitution. Is that how my statement is perceived? Because I am sure I gave a good argument why it should be legalized and regulated.

Except businesses are allowed to kick you out for any reason. If they don't like how you dress they are within legal parameters to get rid of you.

Considering there is one county in the US that has legal prostitution, you understand my bias. My first sentence describes my belief on the topic - if the hooker can decide what he or she wants to do it's fine.

My biological dad is a douche. Never held his kids, never bathed us, or fed us, or changed the diapers. My step-dad? He is so badass with kids. Dressed up as Santa for my birthday (late Dec. birthday), took me fishing, all that fun stuff. I was out of diapers by the time he came into our lives but I know he would have done that too. Some males are stuck in the 1950s but fortunately they are becoming fewer now. Same with sexist women too, I hope.

Fuck. You. It is still traumatic, it is still a violation of a person's body. It's still a massively painful experience that many MALES and FEMALES can't get over. While raping and pillaging isn't as popular as it was in the past, there are still enough people in the world who think they can just take whatever they want. Until humanity grows up we NEED to take this shit seriously. Continue to try to educate our children in how to treat MALES and FEMALES like people and not objects. Until then ra…

Fuck yeah. Both parties would be safer with regulation. Johns wouldn't feel like dirty perverts fucking STI-ridden hookers and the hookers wouldn't become ridden with STIs due to their pimps not giving a fuck.

It's humane if the prostitute has control over his or her body. Too often, however, it's the pimp who controls the situation and that's just sick. Hell, that's rape. Not to mention the problem with human trafficking, minors getting pimped out, and that too many are just desperate and willing to do it for almost nothing.

It sounds like the woman was more apologetic - willing to cover herself. The guy didn't. Unless we know how the individuals acted, we can only assume it was their behavior that made the decision. Being a douche won't win any popularity contests, even if you are in a lot of angst from going to your high school friend's funeral. Until you know what happened don't judge. No one can make a logical conclusion without all the information.

Sadly there are no reliable figures on the number of rapes. Still, I doubt males are raped more often than females in this nation, even counting significant number of rapes in prison. High risk women are pretty much expected to be raped in their lifetime, maybe multiple times. High risk includes partiers, hookers, druggies, the poor, the vulnerable. Not to mention the popularity of underage hookers. Every single time they are bought they are getting raped. And there are many more prositots than …

Pretty sure women are still leading in the whole rape issue. Considering it's still socially acceptable in many cultures to see women objectively and that a guy can take what he wants (e.g. a woman wants to get laid dressed like that, better give it to her). Otherwise, guys are totally winning as victims of other crimes. Like getting beat up in the bathroom.

Being physically hurt is far more similar than simply being robbed. Money is easier to replace than regaining that sense of safety taken from victims of physical harm.

Getting robbed and being raped are a bit different on the trauma scale, though.

Never listen to numbers like this. So much goes unreported plus the politics behind deciding whether x is a crime or not makes for a massively different picture. Statistics are almost impossible to be accurate on such a large scale.

Yeah. Way more victims - male and female - would press charges if details like that stayed out of the news. And then the innocent won't have lives destroyed.

So... he gets burned by one woman and now realizes all women are awful people? Wow. Pretty sure the healthier reaction would be that a shit ton of people, male and female, will happily hurt someone for a pat on the head. Blaming your pain so stereotypically isn't good, and will chuck all logic out the window as the guy seeks instead evidence to support his opinion instead of coming to the far more accurate opinion that his marriage failed because two people fucked it up, not just some bimbo. Yes. Both genders are victimized; I just got on a little rant there. This little rant is more relevant for female victims, however. A good rant I have for male victims is they are supposed to think they did want it; only a loser wouldn't want to get laid however and whenever. Anyone can get victimized; the way others perceive different genders are vastly different, however. Which sucks, because they ALL deserve a hug and access to a good therapist who is capable of helping him or her get through…

This is for those who might get angry and kill you out of rage. Those few rapists who are just super angry and take it out on whatever object they find. Very few predators premeditate murder - this is just a myth of tv. Serial killers make up too few a percent of rapists to count overmuch. The vast, vast majority of rapists are acquaintances who don't consider him/herself a rapist. She wanted it, or else why did she go home with you. Or, she wanted it, look at what she wore. Or, she wanted it, e…

Nothing is absolute. Still, most sexually active women do it to get off, just like guys. Basically, both partners should seek the other is having fun. Not bored, not too fucked up, not scared shitless. If you don't do that, you SUCK at sex and seriously need to change a few things about yourself.

I don't have much sympathy for a guy who didn't bother to check to see if the girl was into it. Seriously, if she's a wet fish, just stop and wank off later. Guys generally know the girl isn't into it, they just don't care. Call it heat of the moment - raging boners can make a guy stop thinking - but still, the difference between a horny chick and a scared chick should be OBVIOUS.

When in a situation like that, fight or flight comes into effect. Many are just too scared to do much besides wait for it to be over. It's like getting robbed, but a little more traumatic. Most people who have a gun to their head just give their shit over not scream for help. This is also not highly recommended as the guy (or girl) can get violent and seriously hurt the individual being raped. Better to be violated than dead. Wriggling can also induce tearing. This will help in those instances o…

I don't see any logic to his little diatribe. For one, it's unlikely to think more than a few trains have this as an option - their system is past its limits as it is. Second, segregation is an extreme idea to the problem, and there is no information on how popular the idea even is. Third, his idea is such a stretch considering there are more likely scenarios why a woman would choose the regular train, a long list I won't bother to go into. The best part of reddit is when I get into a good intellectual conversation, discussing two or more sides of a topic. Biologically, the onset of puberty is generally the consensus - as you are arguing. However, this concept is slowly changing as the many fields of science better understand how the mind works. MRI scans and psychological research is finding that while the body is ready for maturity the mind takes far longer. This is my argument. While the body is ready to reproduce the mind is not yet ready to do the same. And this is why adults banging teenagers is creepy - they are not at the same place mental…

Alcohol is a drug. Adolescence is not an invention of a post industrial society. It is scientific fact - teenagers' and young adult's brains are not fully developed. Just as their bodies are not. Males reach adulthood a little slower than females. Rape is rape. Do not argue that all men want to fuck so anyone who argues a man got raped is just jealous. Rape is when one partner is unwilling to participate or is too fucked up to agree properly.

One major point he arguing is that the kid was drugged. Even if he wanted to, in the eyes of the law no one can consent to sex when under the influence. That being said, just because a kid wants sex doesn't mean he wants it forced upon him. This goes for both males and females. Imagining sex with an adult is fine but there is something seriously wrong going on if it actually happens. Why would an adult even want to fuck someone so mentally immature? Men have a right to defend themselves against irate females, just as they have the right against men. In lieu of the sexism of our times, however, I would recommend you only take defensive actions - making her immobile versus hitting - so you don't have to look like the bad guy.
