he used to have outbursts like this 2 years ago. He stopped doing it and promised it wouldn't happen again. But now that he graduated school and isn't happy with his job prospects I guess he doesn't care.

You can't change what he's going to ultimately do or be like. His thought process is destructive to his own success. So is this saying that I should give up, essentially? I care about him very much and he has a lot of wonderful qualities, but we have been through a lot of ups and downs and if this is going to be his attitude by default I don't think I can deal with it forever. Unless I know that it's just venting for him and that i'm supposed to be a cheerleader? Does your guy never tell you his…

If all men are entitled to sex, regardless of what they offer women, are all women entitled to a relationship? Even if they're ugly and unpleasant? Human rights are things like the right to live, make choices, perhaps eat and be cared for in a hospital. Everything else...you get what you earn.

you're right of course-- my grandmother even worked full time sometimes because my grandpa was a preacher and made nothing :) (But she pulled it off as well as a lady who didn't work, which is super inspiring to me!). The idea is fun and inspiring regardless.

In high school, I had a huge crush on this soccer player I was in classes with. We flirted a little and I hoped he would ask me to prom, but nope. I heard from mutual friends years later that he really wanted to ask me out but he thought I was too smart for him and that I wouldn't say yes. (He turned out to be a terrible person, so that's for the best). I wouldn't say he was intimidated by me, more that he didn't think I would think we were a good match. But I guess that's what girls mean someti…

I am conflicted on this. On the one hand, yes she could "just lose weight" and stop complaining. On the other... I have a good friend who has been overweight her whole life and she's always trying a new diet but the emotional damage of a lifetime of feeling ugly seems to sabotage even the diets that are healthy. And she puts on a brave face and is a really kind, positive person, but I've seen her break down before with something like this monologue. It's horrible. It's not always so simple, we a…

Here are ways that a guy could have met me, maybe that would be helpful: working at the hospital: I would suggest you try to observe girls who volunteer at the hospital, young nurses and nursing students, EMT volunteers (is he in emergency medicine?) This would be great because you can learn a LOT from how girls interact with patients who are difficult or in pain. working as a waitress: Try to interact with the girl at the coffee shop counter or waitress mid to high-end restaurants. We love it w…

I think it really depends on the woman. And the approach. I read something recently on this website-- http://www.thefemininewoman.com/2014/04/willing-affected-mans-problems/ Where the lady is having a reaction to her man's issues... He said to me intensely: “Are you saying that you don’t want to be affected by what happens in my Life?” And I just stood there and his words hit me like a truck. Wow.> So a woman can be shocked into understanding her own behavior if you put it powerfully like that.

There's no reason you can't get the MRS and also a useful degree, if you're thinking in terms of your success as a couple/family. It makes sense for both people to work for a few years and build up some savings, and then the woman to stop working or go part-time while they have young kids. That's always been my plan, and it's working out fine...

No, the OP is correct. All women are like that. I am like that. My boyfriend is a strong and capable man, but in the moments where he gets emotional over something I literally feel sick to my stomach. I feel terrified, and then to counter that, I feel angry. I am different from most women only because I've figured out how my mind works and I can think logically about it, hide these feelings, and do what he needs to support him in a feminine way. I can't try to fix the problem, though. That's on …

That's really interesting. I do not have a group of female friends for pretty much this reason... talking with groups of girls is a complete act, a preening competition. It's about who can be the cutest, who is on top; it's always about people and what happened to me yesterday and what other people think, never about ideas. This is true even in groups of supposedly intellectual women. I have often appreciated conversations with men more, not for the attention I think, but because they could be h…

haha that was amazing. She seems to be along the lines of this group... "By the way, if you guys are looking for some chicks, check out those feminists I mentioned above. They have more enlightened views about masculinity than I do, even if they will keep your balls in their bell jar."

I was planning on going to medical school and shadowed a lot of doctors. I also got to know the surgeon who operated on my brother a few years ago, a woman. I found that the most competent and respected female doctors/surgeons were those who were gentle, quiet, compassionate, and detailed- not unfeminine traits at all. The brain surgeon I shadowed spoke calmly and quietly during surgery, I can't imagine her raising her voice, but she spoke with undeniable authority and everyone listened. There w…

I don't think this would work on me. I would just be like "whaaat?" or start laughing about the neck licking thing. The actors question would probably tell you something. Though I wonder, does it really matter? Everyone is attracted to other people other than their partner at some point. The real test of character is whether they keep their actions (and even thoughts) in line with their commitment to a relationship.

Actually... this fits with a trend that I've seen a lot working with wealthy families. Man is a successful bachelor into his 50s, then realizes it's his last time to start having children to carry on his legacy. So he finds a woman 10-20 years younger on the edge of childbearing age. This woman almost always fits this mold: tall, elegant, beautiful for her age, perfect hair, classically educated and accomplished in music/art/language, usually from a wealthy family herself. Together they make a v…

Only girls who fit into that female group are accepted. This girl is pretty, long hair, is dressed like a sorority girl. The other girls are curious about her as a potential friend or competitor. If she was not of the "popular girl" mold, believe me, they would think it incredibly creepy.

I don't think it's true that people used to always marry younger than 18. I think that general age has been the standard of marriage age/consent (which used to be the same thing) for a while. Anatomically, just because a girl has her period doesn't mean her body is ready to carry a baby. Things are just getting started at that point. The center of gravity lowers and the hips continue to widen until around age 20. Sure, men may be attracted to her semi-mature form, but that's why strict family pr…

yes! I grew up with parents who did this and I have these lovely images of my mom feeding the chickens, coming in with armloads of fresh vegetables and flowers, and chasing down goats in a dress and bare feet :) It makes you both strong and feminine.

He is right. This woman is 37 years old :http://kinoyoga.tumblr.com/ and this woman is in her mid-30s as well: http://interval-yoga.com/post/77553066432/divine-wine-alikamenova-intervalyoga Regardless of whether you think herbalism, yoga, cleanses, other woo-woo spiritual stuff is scientifically valid, some of the women who get into that have incredible success with it. Something to consider.

I was thinking about this again today... try to make the best of it using your other assets. Audrey Hepburn managed to be beautifully feminine with a pixie cut, because she played up her features with fairly boldly feminine makeup and wore statement jewelry --http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ospxdU0QtXc/UYkXb-niD-I/AAAAAAAAHD8/aegGgNl3_Js/s1600/audrey_hepburn_by_dtran29-d5ci640.jpg When it gets a little longer, a classic french bob is very appealing as well https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=t…

To be fair, there were some lovely, feminine pants that women in WWII era movies wear... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZH_6z2Q8Rq4/T1-azxBRKsI/AAAAAAAAFrc/6eVjJwrVbOU/s400/gene+tierney+radfahrend+mit+hund.jpg

You could try extensions. My friend wears them on her shoulder-length hair and they look very natural. I can't notice so I'm sure men couldn't. The good ones are a little pricey, $100-200 for a clip-in set, but it might be worth it to help you with the transition. hang in there love

some of the stuff she says is reasonable..but i had already figured that stuff out by the time I was 19, it shouldn't take to your 40s.

Providing for yourself, cooking your food, and making a home are all womanly skills that we've probably been practicing since the paleolithic. See it as practice for your future husband and family: would a feminine woman allow her children to go hungry if her husband lost his job? No way- she would get out there and work, and then cook dinner and clean house. That's what my grandmother did in the 40s and 50s, but she is the most feminine and admirable woman I know.

I liked it. I thought it was refreshingly honest and that she is taking full responsibility for finding her femininity is rare. Interesting there are no comments on the article.

This sounds bizarre, but applying monistat cream to your scalp will make hair grow much faster. It blocks an androgen hormone (DHT) that inhibits hair growth. Also it makes your hair thicker, because some follicles that were inactive start to grow hair. (nerdy science tip : ) )

hmm... I've read a few articles from that site that seem very harsh, but this one made me realize that they (or at least this guy) are aiming their anger specifically at women who are not feminine. They are still naturally drawn to and respectful of a real lady. This is encouraging to me.

Not sure if women are allowed to comment here? I'd feel pretentious calling myself a "unicorn" but I am definitely not feminist, I have always been marriage and family minded because of a traditional upbringing, my boyfriend who I will probably marry is the only guy I've been with (I'm 25). I met him in college. He is older and wasn't a student, he asked me out in a coffee shop. There's no way he could've met me at bars or parties because I never went out. Thinking back on it, the only options p…

Thanks everyone. It kind of stung to hear it but I know the right answer is to do everything I can to have my kids on the early side. My boyfriend does want kids, and he says he doesn't want to be an old dad. He has a good job, but we don't have much savings built up yet and he is adamant that he wants at least two years to do that. He came from a broken family that was always just scraping by, so this is a sensitive issue for him. He also wants to travel with me and enjoy our marriage for a lit…

I'm 25 and thinking about the same things. I've always been told I look about 4 years younger than I am. Last year I started to see some tiny lines when I'm tired (only visible to me, apparently, but there) so I took action and they're not really visible at all now. Also I get told that my skin glows. -Vitamin C serum, vitamin E at night, and zinc oxide suncreen every day -I take 8mg astaxanthin (an amazing antioxidant), zinc, and vitamin C -Mineral makeup only (I mix my own from a powder founda…

I think that would really bother me too. My BF has told me (only when I pressed him) that he has been with 10 girls and that bothered me for a little while. Interestingly it made me feel better that they were not relationships. I think you should tell him how much it bothers you. If he really loves you he should be able to reassure you about why you're the special one.
