I think the mutual partner thing is totally cool, it's just deceit I'm not down with. It's easy for me to sit here and say the world would be a better place and so much simpler if things were always that way (my life certainly would be) but so many people can't seem to handle the truth.

You're right, I ended it because I didn't want a man child who would cry over everything, was dramatic and couldn't take care of himself. I'm now 3 years married with a guy who is as logical and rational as I am. There are times when he is not and when I am not, and in those times we help the other get their shit together. Those dynamics work well for us.

So when women are manipulative and deceitful it's wrong, but for men it is okay?

I think a lot goes into personality. Which shouldn't be something you fake, so if you have issues you should work them out. If you're relaxed, happy, secure/confident and interesting you're pretty much set. It's amazing how many women are lacking in those qualities. Don't take life too seriously and love who you are - I don't know who wouldn't be attracted to a nice drama free relationship like that.

Very well said. The problem we're always going to encounter with these issues however is how anecdotal they are. How much of it is the nature of the world and the nature of selective personal experience? On the whole, I have met more women like this than not, but I wouldn't feel comfortable in saying this is definitely how things are or aren't in every demographic. Maybe it's the scientist in me, but I'd kinda wish someone would look into this more formally. It could potentially be addressed to …

Well, I don't disagree with that, but my point was that posts like this just encourage men to have a generalised negative opinion of women and expect them to act like this, which shouldn't be the case. Wary, sure but not expected.

I agree. I'm just not sure how general this is, whether it's more common in certain areas, certain social groups or whatever else. I do know women who are like this but they tend to fit other stereotypes too. It would be interesting if someone could find a behavioural study on it. I must say, reading this thread has been pretty scary - I had no idea so many men were being affected by women like this. Then again, this subreddit is also likely more highly populated by men who have had these sorts …

Of course you could say that, anything I say on here will prove some sort 'for' argument in this context but then you're implying that a woman can indeed never be in a position where she isn't to blame. As I said, I don't excuse the shit I do wrong. And I've done a lot of things wrong. I have to face up to the consequences and potential humiliation just like anyone else, and yeah it fucking sucks, but that's just life.

All I can really say is that I'm sorry that those have been the female encounters in your life. I don't know, maybe it's even demographic to a certain degree but whatever it is, it's very unfortunate. I do realise this is a problem and my reaction overshadowed the reasoning behind this post. I wasn't even aware that so many men haven't been 'warned' about women who behave this way, and perhaps therefore posting this will bring more good than harm. I just do hope that people won't get the wrong i…

I'm glad someone realises this isn't exclusive to women, and neither is being devoid of this behaviour exclusive to men.

Same thing happened with my ex though. He fucked over 100 women, had several girlfriends at once and would lie pretty pathologically to all of them, and he portrayed himself as such an angel that even in the face of evidence the girls would believe him - he could get away with anything. He still claims the women enabled him. Complete insanity.

I personally believe a lot of it stems from insecurity. Women are frequently comparing themselves to others and trying to be better. To take responsibility for your actions and admit fault may be particularly difficult for women because of the extreme feelings of inadequacy that would ensue. I also think many women are also raised believing men are the bad guys, and so this tendency to shift blame becomes this rationalised and acceptable concept. I do not however think any of those reasons make …

You did the right thing, no one should put up with shit like that. Some women do need to be sat down in school and told to get their act together, because I know certain social groups accept this sort of thing as normal behaviour and having these ideals reinforced by friendship groups just continues to propagate it.

I agree with you, but the way this has been written and the responses to it indicate that the general consensus is that this applies to all women, and that's why I had a problem with it.

Except I know I do a lot of shit wrong, and I don't excuse it. Instead my life is about actively learning from mistakes and trying to better myself, as it should be for anyone. Not every woman walking this planet has a 'mental sickness' and it seems ridiculous that you genuinely believe every single woman is this way. I do notice that I'm a bit of an odd ball in certain areas, since I stopped getting my period I have been way more placid but I don't doubt I'm the only woman who doesn't deal with…

Well if that is the perspective than I am in complete agreement, but as you can see, a lot of men here do truly believe that every woman is this way and should be condemned to such. You're right though, a lot of men aren't aware and do end up becoming complete pushovers, it's unfortunate and those women do need to accept responsibility and stop being so emotionally abusive.

Until about a month ago, this was my husband all over. I realised he hadn't been single since he was in high school (now 30). He finally started working on himself in this area and it has helped him so much. There is no happiness like that which you can give to yourself.

Absolutely but it doesn't make for a valid and well-informed argument. I could easily turn around and write about all men being cheating, lying, rapist assholes except I realise that the number of those in reality is few, which is a huge point being made on here. It goes both ways. There are certainly women who act this way and hold these perspectives but you can't say it's an intrinsic factor in every woman.

21 F and way, way more dominated by visuals. These days I can hardly ever get off without porn, nor can I look at porn for any duration of time without becoming aroused and needing to do something about it. Could be hormones or some crap, but there you go.

Whenever I'm in a relationship I feel way more motivated to stay in shape. I want to always feel sexy and look good in front of my husband. It isn't directly about pleasing him, but looking good gives me confidence, I perform better sexually, I'm more playful and less stressed out just generally - I'm an all around nicer and happier partner. My husband did however go the other way and has gained quite a bit in our relationship, he's the biggest guy I've ever been with. I never stopped being attr…

I'd much rather sleep with a smaller/average guy than a larger guy. This is entirely an individual thing since my anatomy just doesn't lend itself to the latter, but I doubt I'm the only woman who is made that way. Throughout my life I've also heard a lot of women agree with 'it's not the size but how you use it'. For most women, good sex is about the mentality, the atmosphere, the clitoral stimulation - keeping in mind that for more orgasms occur this way then through vaginal stimulation. The m…

Excellent comment. Female here, and in my last relationship it was always me being the logical thinker and him being emotionally driven. I can understand the reason why all of the conclusions here are drawn, but there is anecdotal evidence to support both sides of the argument. Not every woman is one way or another, nor is every man. I don't disagree with this as a common observation, but rather with the fact there is no room for exception.

My issue is that you're completely generalising the entire female population. Sure, I know women who do act this way, I also know a lot of women who take responsibility for their actions - sometimes too much so. Both males and females are guilty of this kind of behaviour, I think it's an issue with humanity and not an issue with being female. Maybe you and whoever else have had bad life experiences with women, just like I've had bad experiences with men, but (as easy as it would be for me to do …
