Ugggh. Double whammy. MTHFR and methylation and the whole SNP universe are so complicated. Luckily (but sadly) there's lots of info out there about MTHFR due to its effects on pregnancy. It's tricky and difficult, and you can feel so much worse before you get better. I used my 23andme data with Genetic Genie and learned a lot, like why I need major vitamin D supplementation daily or I quickly drop to an extremely low level on bloodwork. I haven't used Prometheus yet (got overwhelmed with the GG/…

a flawed gene that makes my B vitamins wonky. MTHFR? Going thru this myself right now. Not fun.

There's also been studies that children from married couples end up better in terms of general emotional wellbeing and is the most stable environment for children to grow up in. This, like everything in life, is entirely dependent on the people/ parents involved. As the child of two (married) people who should never have had children, much less with each other, the idea that married couples provide the most stable environment for children to grow up in and produce children with better emotional …

Read something similar 20+ years ago--women of all socioeconomic groups usually are the ones to initiate the divorce and men are many times just blindsided by it, because he thought everything was fine. As in, fine enough for the man to live with, and he mistakenly did not take the wife's concerns and complaints seriously. Until she's tried, again and again, then she's done, and she files. Saw it happen with my own parents, and even the end of a relationship I had (albeit not a marriage/divorce …

She's young. The things I did for guys at that age, and how much I wanted it to work... I still cringe about it today. Young, naive, and learning the hard way. It sucks.

"It Takes Money, Honey" by Georgette Mosbacher. It's an older book (published in 1998) but it focuses on women protecting themselves in (and out) of relationships, and not making the mistake of depending on a partner. Ms. Mosbacher got royally screwed by her husband and lost the relationship, her job (working for him, eek!), and a huge sum of money/ marital assets all in a few days. Lots of good advice about protecting your money, setting goals, making sure you get your fair share in a relations…

her fiancé beats her and has been doing so for years. She’s 32 and has admitted that she’s only with him because she fears she’s too old to find someone else in time to have kids. This is so sad. Abusive men don't get better when you add children to the mix, they get worse. She'd be a million times better off (and safer) having a baby by herself than with him.

So sad. Not using condoms means she's risking an STD as well.

Yes. And in addition to him being scum because he hurts an animal, it's also a sign that he's likely to be jealous of his own children one day, or more accurately, the attention the mom gives to her children. edit: spelling mistake

Reading this post headline made me laugh because it's just so pathetic. Reading the losers' r4r just made me sad.

Lundy Bancroft (author of "Why Does He Do That?") says the same thing. It's counterproductive and harmful.

Wait 'til you see the dance the males perform to entice the female. Some pretty fancy moves! The males will also tear up the other males' stick structures to harm the other birds' chances. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XkPeN3AWIE

I literaly woke up this morning thinking about how I gave waaay too much in an early relationship. It was years ago and apparently I'm still pissed off enough about it that my brain mulls it over while I try to sleep! I gave so much and got almost nothing back. He just became more and more complacent as time went by. The last straw was my birthday--I got nothing but a verbal "Happy Birthday!" Dumped him soon after, and he was shocked! He thought everything was just fine! I learned my lesson. He …

I've shared this statistic before (with links to the studies for proof) in /r/relationship_advice and had men try to tear it down. It's a damn proven fact and they were defensive and offended that I dared mention this reality for women.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
