P.S. 10/10 for small talk!

I can’t complain, I like it here... There’s some negativity due to the current situation, but there are some real good people - and it’s just a truly beautiful country.

I’m from SA and we are on complete lockdown - not allowed to leave houses except for groceries and medical emergencies. So... yeah. Also, you’re pretty much doing small talk right now - because it’s online & you’re not overthinking it. And let’s face it - COVID is awful but it’s a topic that anyone can talk about right now, so make it your starting point!

Straight up ask her what she’s into, what she enjoys. If she has the ability to converse like a human being, she will probably engage and start asking questions too. A million questions aren’t necessary- once you have an idea of what her interests are, you can lead it from there, and then she will naturally lead the conversation Covid is really making everything way more complicated too, isn’t it?

Ahhh you make a good point re the #Metoo/Salem witch trials situation. I guess it’s not as intense in my country, but guys over here are generally more reserves or something so it doesn’t happen. Lead the conversation e.g. he’d ask me questions about my preferences about hobbies/sport/general stuff. I’m very extroverted so for me, taking that cue and running with it is easy. Funny enough, guy in question also hasn’t dated in FOREVER and he is skittish around girls but we manage to hold a convers…

Well I have a lifetime of lockdown to get that working for me... 😂

Well, I’m still working on getting the guy, but I’ve had the “swoon” moment - and it certainly wasn’t the look, he is the complete opposite of my “type”... But it’s not as much WHAT he says as the way he talks to me, like I’m on his level of intellect and he actually finds what I have to say interesting. He allows me to lead the conversation, asks questions, challenges my views. And the way he smiles when he looks at me, those small things. And no to an asshole turning attractive. A guy can be a…

For a girl who is looking for something more than a hookup, the fact that you’re open to learning things that are NOT easy (I wish I had a semblance of musical understanding, but alas) along with the fact that you have this mentor and don’t see yourself as “the ultimate knowledge” on all things will mean a lot. I think the only thing you need to do is put yourself out there - which is probably a terrifying thought, but girls (I can’t speak for all of us, but most of my friends feel the same) jus…

Does the best chance to escape the friend zone apply to girls too?

Dude, you play guitar? That’s an opening right there, a guy can literally “music” himself out of the friendzone - whether it’s singing, guitar, drums... The lockdown is a giant problem, but if you’re going to try a dating app - a photo with a guitar will already get you attention. Then you just get used to conversing with a girl again with romantic intentions and see how it goes. P.S. You guys are cool with girls answering on here, right? I feel like I fell into the man cave by accident Also, I …

Please just be upfront and honest. Literally just “I like you & I enjoy your company, but I’m really not looking for anything serious right now.”

No It seems so affected/fake which is such a turnoff. Most girls are very quick to see when a guy is desperate/insincere/trying too hard and we will RUN. Just be friendly, if you want to tell her you paint go “Yeah, I kinda like painting. What do you do for fun?” You’ve a) told her something about you b) expressed interest in what she enjoys and c) opened up a conversation. That’s literally all. The worst thing a guy can do is come across as trying so hard to be impressive that he forgets to jus…

She clearly has a thing for you. Just Snapchat her back and tell her she seems good enough for you and that she looks cute or whatever.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
