Anybody else having an absolutely dog shit 2024?From spring of 2020 to now 2024, it’s been a series of unfortunate events. Covid, death of a parent, death of a dog, empty nesting, job loss the financial burden of every fucking thing costing more these days, selling our beautiful home, a involuntary move out of state, wife’s cancer came back and is terminal, (18-24 months expectancy)she wants divorce, now I’m moving back to my home state. All the while I have to work to earn just enough to keep it going. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/09/24 10:14 AM
How far to move away?Stay close and stay for the kids. As a previous reditor said, you do for the kids until they are 18 (graduated high school) a lot can change between now and when your child graduates. My personal experience. I was fortunate enough and was able to moved within walking distance of kids mom. BEST decision ever! Yes, we had set boundaries and followed our agreement And YES! There were times it was difficult for me and maybe for her to live so close but we weren’t a couple anymore we were parents fir… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/09/24 08:24 PM
How far to move away?Say it louder for those in the back!! You are absolutely right my friend. Do what you need to do until your minor child is an adult. A lot can change between now and when they graduate high school. I moved and found a rental within walking distance. Was the BEST decision ever. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/09/24 08:18 PM
Social mediaIn my situation, my spouse had friends and family feeding her the encouragement to abandon our marriage. I suspect there was some social media influence but nothing greater then the know it all friends who have “gone through it” before. On my end. My friends and family encouraged me to seek individual AND couples counseling. Couples counseling lasted 2 sessions at which time spouse “decided” it wasn’t for her. I on the other hand continue my individual therapy and have chosen to learn to cope wi… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/09/24 01:55 PM
Today's updateBro. You need to make it on your own. Suck it up. Work extra hard to the best version of yourself. Quit bitching about who earns what or the damn car insurance. If it wasn’t for her or the marriage where would you be today? Find a therapist work through it pull yourself up by your boots straps, and move on. You are capable of making it on your own. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/24 08:10 PM
Divorce copingThought about it many times and also thought better of it. Leaving my daughters behind would be the ultimate selfish act on my part and I would never do that to them. I’m here doing my best to give them the best version of myself. This shit isn’t easy, very painful at times. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/09/24 06:40 PM
8 days and countingDid you retain an attorney? | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/08/24 02:06 AM
It has begun.Definitely stay in the house. As long as you are married it’s just as much yours as it is hers. Stay in separate rooms move your stuff from the shared closet, etc. you are now house mates. Be polite and take care of you and the child. Lastly, I suggest that divorce conversations be scheduled and NOT a free for all while living together. Set aside a day/ time and duration to have discussions. Take notes and then send her an email with the date time and the recap of what both parties talked about.… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/24 11:14 AM
Legal advice neededText or email (email is better) asking if she would take the kids that weekend. If she cannot then get a sitter for the weekend you will be away. I always gave my Ex first right of refusal. It was written that way in our custody. That way she couldn’t come back and say she had the kids more then me etc. if she said not. I got a sitter and that was that. . | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/08/24 10:18 AM

I have a court appointment this week. Should I go hard or easy on my ex for withholding timesharing time? This is not a criminal case it’s a civil case and there is no reason to fight to the death. Be “civil” cut your losses and move forward. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/24 10:20 PM
I have a court appointment this week. Should I go hard or easy on my ex for withholding timesharing time? Thanks for the clarification. And you are correct it is an enforceable motion. Hopefully your atty can file a motion of contempt of order. Sorry you have to go through all of this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/24 10:19 PM
I have a court appointment this week. Should I go hard or easy on my ex for withholding timesharing time?Sometimes it’s best to cut your losses and simply move on. The sooner you are divorced the sooner you can work on yourself. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/24 05:29 PM
