I read the whole thing and the thing I see recurring here is guilt. Guilt you're not perfect. You know who clearly doesn't feel that guilt? Your far, far less perfect LVX. But your kid is grown and it's time to let that guilt go. Just keep as much as you need to to not make those mistakes again. It's OK to not be perfect. And it's totally OK to beat yourself up about it sometimes, because if you thought you were perfect you'd have never achieved what you have--and you HAVE achieved! You have mor…

Lots of libfem ideas sound great, the problem is that they've been corrupted by men. In the 90s, when the pay for yourself thing started being circulated I embraced it. I used it as a power move. ONLY when a man was trying to pay for me. This is specifically what made it a power move. Like a coworker who was at a lower level. I pointed it out when I told him to get his credit card back in his wallet and he can pay for his subordinates. I've also paid to specifically underline that I've been disp…

It's always a man. The next mass shooter? Not sure of his color, religion, or messed up reasoning but I am sure it will be a HIM. Might not be ALL men but it is ALWAYS men.

My grandmother on one side left my grandfather *and* her 8 kids because she was tired of his abuse. My great-grandmother left my great-grandfather and infant (other) grandmother because he was an alcoholic so he gave my grandmother to his sister to raise. It is 100% an option, and men would treat women better if they believed that with every ounce of their being.

Adding some of my faves: Giant by Melissa Etheridge If you listen to ONE SONG on my suggestion list, listen to this one! Goodbye, Earl by The Chicks A song about the LVM who became a missing person who nobody missed at all ;) I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor I always liked this one back to back with Respect by Aretha Franklin, which is already on this list. Sonny Came Home by Shawn Colvin breaking bad and (realizing you're strong enough to) burn your old life to the ground.

Logged in just to upvote this excellent high quality content. My own addition: If a man tells you he does want kids, when you discuss kids, go into ALL the details. Oh, we both want to be active involved parents? lovely! How much paternity leave are you going to be taking? What do you plan to do if there are pregnancy/delivery complications and you have to take care of the baby most of the time while I recover? Childcare is going to be done primarily by whom? So the other person will be taking u…

*dingdingding* All of this, but mostly control. Same thing as the dude who blows up your phone if you don't respond immediately. He's getting off on making you jump through hoops, and the reason for the hoops (horniness, insecurity) can vary but the reason he's making you jump is control. The way to win is not to play.

I read what you wrote, and I feel parts of it pretty hard. When I was a kid I got stage fright to the point of passing out when I had to give a report to the class. I've got two suggestions for you: Read "When I Say No, I Feel Guilty" This will help you pick apart why you have those feelings and give you some methods for putting yourself first. The second one is: Pretend to be someone else, or pretend someone you admire greatly is standing there to give you advice. Imagine a person who has all t…

I like this sub, but I think there's a bit of a blind spot for dealing with LVMs outside of dating. You can't just block/delete everyone. If being talked to by managers doesn't help--and the world is FULL of examples where they have no repercussions or we get in trouble instead of them--I make them uncomfortable. Jokes? I know far worse. Catcalling? I can do that too, and in just as sleazy a way. Not flirtingly. Never laugh it off. Be creepy. You know, people who stare at your boobs and say 'nic…

If the last year has taught me anything it's that emotion rules. If we want to get rid of deepfake porn, we start having videos of men getting gangbanged by fat old dudes, men getting humiliated, 2boys1cup. The thing they don't want anyone to ever see them doing? That's what you need to make deepfakes of. Their fears. That starts happening, it will become illegal within months.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
