I think of the future you should also definitely keep the other woman on her toes by still being flirtatious and potentially available to other people until she locks it down not just with her words but with her behavior. Obviously that WLW community is much smaller than the straight dating pool, but you could try going to social events and bars and meetups to let her know that YOU'RE the prize. Maybe wait a bit longer before confessing feelings? It sounds like you dodged a bullet though.

I understand that, but a lot of women who date cops don't know that it puts them in danger. Some may come from sheltered backgrounds that hero worship cops or haven't been exposed to statistics/still have faith in the justice system, and don't realize they could get hurt.
