In clubs, the music is usually too loud to have a decent conversation, whereas at the “chill” bars you’re describing, I think it seems like everyone came there with their own friends because they’re too nervous to go alone? Try to find a bar where it’s mostly single people who frequent it. It definitely takes awhile to find the right one, but make that your regular spot. I guarantee your town has one.
