I experience that quite a lot. Sometimes they are incredibly real and I wake up upset. Others thankfully are less so. As the other poster said, I’ve heard they become less frequent over time. Take care of yourself mate.

Shit man that’s crazy, glad the police could see sense and did right by you in the end. I only got sprayed and kicked about once I was cuffed. I hope that court works out well for you. Will be wishing you all the best.

I get that. I have recently gone through the same thing. Although she never “named” my mh she also never acknowledged the huge amount of work I put in to fix myself and be a different man for her and the kids. I felt like she is judging me on who I was, not who I am today. 13 years ago I probably would have flipped and hit the bottle. It didn’t make any difference to her when she could see I handled things differently but it showed “me” how far I’d come. I may still feel like shit but it has tau…

So basically never allow yourself to be vulnerable or to truly feel and all hope is an illusion. What are without hope? And a relationship is not illusionary it’s very real as the feelings of many here will attest to. If you never try and yes, have hope then there is very little point in anything. I guess I was wrong about posting here. I didn’t do that for anyone’s attempts at vague psychological theory or understanding. I guess you are right in one respect and that is that with the exception o…

I would not describe myself as introverted nor have I ever been described so. Would 30 years of someone’s life gone not be a radical change for anyone? I invested in my relationship not the expense of all else but it was high on my list. I would agree that I sacrificed (actually sacrificed is not the right word as that alludes to a change not willingly taken)a lot of myself but I was ok with that.

Again thanks for your views. But not interested in chasing money. And before the last few years I don’t believe it was over. She hurt me and I was far from perfect.

Again. I appreciate your views. But please. Don’t claim to know what “I think she is “. I can see why anger is a tool, I really do but I can also see what it’s turned to many people into. It turns good people into hate filled, revengeful shells of themselves. I’m not knocking what you say I’m just saying that’s not me. Believe me when I say that there were people who hurt me physically and mentally and they deserve that hate. But not her. If I was thinking of the need to get back at her it would…

Thank you. I hear where you are coming from and your words make complete sense. My problem (and maybe this might change) is that I don’t want to make this about stuff and things. Yes money would make things so much easier but I’ve seen too many people fighting over who gets what and how much. I get that for some this is how they feel and I’m not criticising them for doing what they feel they have to. As I said above I don’t hate her. I never did. I do hate what has become of us, she has meant to…

I have been here before with her. At the time me leaving was not going to happen, my children were younger then and I wasn’t going to leave them due to something I had no choice in. I can’t help but remain hopeful of a different outcome but I don’t see that unless she at least worked on how she is feeling. I’ve said I would support her in this. She wasn’t just the person I married. She is a friend and if a friend hurt me because they were struggling, I couldn’t turn away from them. If that makes…

Everything is still very very fresh for me after nearly 30 years of marriage and the reality that at 50 I’m going to have to find a way to start again is terrifying. I wish I could hate her as that might motivate me to move on. Everything in the original post rings true for me about how I feel. Just wondering how to get my head straight. Appreciate the hope though.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
