Then its not the right time. These things come natural, and all in due time. Meanwhile /u/TheAtomicOption was right on the money with his suggestions. Follow them to the letter (you may want to leave the cancer part out), then when the opportunity presents itself, trust me it will you'll be ready.

Completely agree! We're a very demonstrative family as well...dad included ;), I get where you're coming from. IMHO technology has driven many people to isolation. Making face to face communication on par with public speaking in terms of anxiety prompting. Hell I know a few adults that cringe at the thought of a phone call. It was a pleasure to read your comment. Your writing is not only beautiful, it's eloquent. Your teachers should take note. Best of luck with your focus!

Yes the whole thing can be intimidating, and yes even awkward. In order to move forward lets lose the word awkward entirely. Next time you speak to a woman be sure she's someone you know fairly well, a friend. At some point in your conversation compliment her hand (pick something specific, maybe she has long fingers or pretty nails, soft looking skin you get the point), then ask if its alright if you touched her hand.
