It is not an incentive, i see no campaign telling women "hey entrap a man and have a kid, you get free money! and we get to force the men to pay you or face repercussions but other than that we get nothing out of this!". An incentive for this would imply that the law get something in return for mandating us to pay child support. Unless you are trying to tell me there is some sort of prison conspiracy going on, there is no incentive. This is a necessity that sadly can be abused. Let me ask you so…

I do not think it gives an incentive, women are not pressured into it and i never said that a small number of women did not abuse it. I just do not see a realistic fix.

It is hard to have a productive conversation with someone who simply ignores what you're saying. I am not ignoring what you are saying and i do agree that it is a problem but you just have not given me much on a solution. I have given you plenty of reasons of why it can not work Also i am not even sure if you are against child support 100% of the time or solely when the child was not wanted. and if it is the latter then it is only to protect men in certain situations, which would be impossible b…

The law does not give the act of sabotage an incentive. That small percentage of people take advantage of it does not mean the goverment is out to get us. It is there to make sure the children have the best life quality possible. The people that mostly get targeted for the money, and not emotional reasons are the rich and famous, not everyday men like me, But considering they also get away with rape and abuse more often than a man in my financial position i am not inclined to peel onions for the…

Thats why divorce fucked up, i dont know who they would believe, it would depend on too many circumstances. But i do know that cops tend to put the burden of proof on the father, and jump straight to conclusions when a mother makes the allegations. That is an issue, but i definitely do not agree that "men just aren't as vindictive and selfish to use children that way." because it is not true, we definitely are.

Wow, you are either pretty young or a shut in. When you start seeing your friends go through divorce or you yourself go through it, you will see that both genders are just as petty, and nothing is above revenge when they grown to have nothing but anger towards each other. Pettiness is gender neutral especially when you hold nothing but contempt for a person who knows way too much about you. Edit: I think some of the men here forget (because we have genuine issues) that men can be just as evil as…

having been the product of divorced parents and seeing it among many of my friends growing up and now, with them actually going through divorce themselves, i would not say it is usually the mother, it is usually the biggest jerk that does this. Where it is unfair is that the mothers claims get taken seriously off the bat and father does not get benefit of doubt. If the father makes a claim it is taken with a grain of salt and the mother does get the benefit of doubt. That is where its fucked up,…

We are just going in circles and our positions just are not going to change. So i will tell you why i hold my position. I hold it because I feel there is an amount of personal responsibility that comes with having sex. Just because culture has become fairly liberal when it comes to people being open and expressive about sex, does not mean it should not be had with no fore thought whatsoever. Relationships should have this conversation before or very shortly after they have become intimate. Male …

So why put locks on doors? Because not full proof =/= not effective http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Chase Bugs you? It's a fact. I'm not trying to be offensive, but who cares if facts "bug" someone, they're still facts! No it bugs me because it is not true if you dont want to allow them. Just like if they do want to keep the child you are SOL. well if they want to have the child but not be responsible for it, if you did everything right you can claim that child and make them pay the dreaded…

it wasnt an argument just an example of people being rediculous and stupid. When these women are on walfare and living of my tax dollars why is it ok for me to pay for that but not the father who actualy had the dis/pleasure of porking the woman?

So what if the father takes custody? Opting out is still opting out, even if custody goes to the father. The result is still the same. Nothing is inflicted upon the mother by this action, so there is not really even a point to mentioning it as an argument against parental surrender. In fact, it demonstrates that there are men who want to take care of their kids, just as there are men who do not want to be fathers, detracting from your later argument about men not wanting to be bothered> Um you c…

He is not a thug he is just a white trash idiot. And i am not sure what you mean by "they deserve that much" i doubt any of them get more than $350 a month when we make about 2500 and 3200 on a good month. and the money is not for the mom it is for the children and it is based on how custody is split. That is what i never get out of a lot of men here. You always assume that because you have to pay money to some one that the mom is going to buy clothes shoes or dildos with the damn money. i mean …

Thing is if the mother tries to abandon or do adoption, us men can claim our rights as the father and take custody of the child. Sure it is not as simple as that but we can claim our rights as the father and if we do we can also file for child support. legal abandonment and adoption are not ways for a woman to opt out if the father wants to claim the child. And we may not have a pill for men yet, but we can also take a little bit of precautions too by wearing a condom. Condoms also protect again…

Again, not a gender issue, the mother would have gotten just as much negative attention if she said she left her children behind. Panicking is panicking, he is getting shit on for reacting poorly, which the mother would have been too if she went on television and said she left her children. He is not being shit on for being a man so this whole topic is a non issue.

It saddens me that you got so many downvotes. i swear sometimes this subreddit argues "man, you are better than your wife and kid's let them die" But atleast you do have more upvotes than downvotes so the world is not complete shit. Also OP greatly sensationalized the post, This man is not being scrutinized for not takinga bullet he is being scrutinized for not helping. Helping does not entail taking a bullet, if he would have taken at least his son with him, who he already had posession of he w…

yes and no, i think what the issue a lot of people are taking is that they feel that people are being fed the notion that a woman's life is worth more than a man's and that is upsetting them (Chivalry is dead in this movement as well as in the feminist movement, something i will never understand). That is understandable but at the same time it is not what happened here, This man valued himself more. there was no equality in his decision so that is why i do not come to his aid. Where i do think y…

No one is criticizing the poor guy for not taking bullets for strangers, they are criticizing him for abondoning his gf and her children very different. Also no one is saying he should have just stood there and yelled "hey shoot me so i can fulfill my duty as a man!" they are giving him shit for not even attempting to help her. and helping does not necessarily entail taking a bullet. I am not hating on the guy but i am also not defending him, making this an issue about rights or roles is stupid …

nope i havent, but the college kid she did not even know helped her out, and he difinitely did not owe her squat. I remember seeing an interview with this kid the day of the shooting, in it, the girlfriend states that he was just gone, didnt even see him book it. It is pretty even on the scale on whether he is being judged too harshly or not, but self preservation makes one look like a dick, and i do not personally have a problem with that.

He proposed after the event it WAS his family. If you cant treat some one else's children like you would your own, you have no business dating a person with children, or proposing. You dont take children with you to a "date" if you are not already attempting to be a father figure. I am sorry but sometimes i feel /r/MensRights stance should be called /r/DontinconvinienceanymanRights especially considering this is not even a rights issue just scrutiny of a cowardly act. some of the things you this subreddit takes issue with are rediculous sometimes. Guy was a coward, and a stranger took a bullet in the leg for his gf and kid's. Gender rolls or not, YOU DO NOT leave your family behind and expect not to have people shit talk you. Imagine if it was the mom who would have left her kids, she would have it just as bad if not worse. This is not a gender issue, it is a decency issue and that is why he is getting shit. I dont know what its like to be under tear gas and …

You know I have no idea, as i am sure it is just as traumatic for the victim and do not consider it any less detestable, i just haven't put much thought into it. But i would not be against some hardcore mutilation to both male, and female rapists. I know none of those punishments would ever happen as they are too "inhumane", but if i was in charge. . .

Thing is she is probably not. Since people in general have no issue with feminists, but bring up men's rights and holy shit some people lose it! They assume we are the same as the kkk and are complaining about not being able to oppress women. Hell even i did before i read into this subreddit, and i still feel that way about some of the shit this subreddit says, but we do have legitimate issues for sure. When a woman accuses a man of rape, it is not a fair trial. You can't be hostile towards her …

I agree with you entirely on this issue, father's rights are a real issue and a real issue we should be fighting for!

the male contraceptive pill bring male sperm count to 0 making it more effective than the female contraceptive, and the condom. As soon as it is available, it would be on us not them whether they get pregnant or not. ANd fathers rights are a real issue that i believe we should be fighting for not whethere we can say we dont want a child or not.

I don't really think it is free money considering they have to take care of the child. And if the custody is split pretty even the child support goes down as well. And if you think she is being irresponsible with the money you give her that is FOR THE CHILD, NOT FOR HER, you can take her ass to court with a little proof. There are plenty of things we can do

not sure what you mean by that, but i have never had a gf of mine go through an abortion so i do not know how the process is but i am sure it is alot more complicated than a man just saying "nope, i dont want it"
/r/MensRights16/07/12 09:07 PM

well yea, people pay 10s of thousandths of dollars for some one to be pregnant in their place because they dont want to go through that hardship. I am not saying it is not selfish on their part to get an abortion but the thing is we impregnate, we can take precautions to prevent it, they get pregnant and can terminate if they want to. There are a lot of risks to sex and just because it is fun does not mean we should be able to toss out one of the outcomes of it because we don't agree with it.
/r/MensRights16/07/12 09:05 PM

There is not "get out of this mess free" we dont know how traumatic the abortion may be for them, and if they have to raise the child, we just help out on it.
/r/MensRights16/07/12 09:00 PM

Well if she wants to put it up for adoption, you can claim your rights to the child and have her pay child support on it. So no you are not entirely right there. And if you are not prepared to take that risk then you should perhaps consider taking up celibacy. not all women abort, and it would be unfair to say "well sucks for you i want nothing to do with it"
/r/MensRights16/07/12 08:57 PM

Um yea well the guy offered unprotected sex, he is the one that impregnates, so he should definitely be held liable for the child he sired. and that was exactly the opposite of the point i was trying to make, i was trying to make the point that we are not that stupid as to try to proclaim ignorance over such a serious matter. And birth control is not 100% effective to begin with, and not everyone shares the same beliefs on abortion. Which is why i have no problem with being held liable if one of…

Exactly, which is why i say there is always a risk of pregnancy so if you are going to have sex then we should be prepared for the consequences or abstain, instead of being priks and saying "nope, dont want it"
/r/MensRights16/07/12 08:38 PM

Thing is pregnancy is not something that happens on purpose a lot of times. and if her beliefs are those that would not allow her to have an abortion then abandoning the rights to that child are unfair. We partook in the sex, if we are not willing to live with the consequences then do not have sex. Especially considering no contraceptive is 100% effective. Women are allowed an abortion because it is a state they can say they want their bodies to go through or not Financial Abortions are strictly…

i doubt it would cause us to release 0 secretions and there is dna in all secretions that i know of, i doubt it can be considered a rape aid in any way.

2 problems with that argument the pill is not 100% effective and she could just claim the pill failed. The pill is not 100% effective so you are taking a risk anyway when having sex without a condom. If we are not willing to live with the consequences then abstain from sex or sex without a condom THE PILL IS NOT 100% EFFECTIVE it nulls pretty much any argument towards the pill
/r/MensRights16/07/12 08:16 PM

Completely agree with you sir. That is indeed like saying "she offered unprotected sex, i am too stupid to say no and make my own choice, so she should be solely responsible for the child because she is the one that goes through pregnancy not me". This argument sickens me it is like condoning dead beat dads. And just makes us seem like stupid irrational people. If one is not willing to deal with the consequences from participating in coitus than one should simply abstain from it instead of compl…

Well it kinda is our choice to go bareback or not, if she does not want to have sex with a condom on then you should seriously reconsider your actions. "You seem to ignore the fact that the woman can decide if she wants to have intercourse with or without a condom." My friend's dad has 6 children with 5 different women. He is behind on child support and if he had the opportunity back in the day to decide whether he wanted to responsible for these children or not, i am sure he would have said no …

Holy shit, some of these suggestions are nuts. I do have to disagree with this though, we can always just use a condom. The only person i would consider having sex with without a condom would be a woman i had been seeing for more than a few months, even if she said she was on the pill. and if it where a one night stand sort of thing then there is no way in hell i am going bareback even if she claimed to be on the pill. The issue i do have in this matter is that the woman can lie to us about the …
