I think he used an open hand. He wasn't trying to flatten her, showing remarkable restraint. This guy knows his stuff.

She could have actually salvaged it if she had said something other than 'fuck you'. A female friend wanted to be an engineer, but her female guidance counsellor told her that women can't do engineering. This woman could have explained why she didn't go into STEM.

Holy fuck, what a nutcase! We might as well say the Irish shouldn't have the right to work.

Deterrence doesn't work for crimes of passion, or where the perpetrators think they're smart enough to get away with it (usually through the Dunning-Kruger effect).

Maybe American men masturbate more. 3 times a week is the recommended rate to reduce prostate cancer risk. http://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/news/20090127/masturbation-and-prostate-cancer-risk

It's an Australian poster. In 2013 they had 3,112 deaths from prostate cancer, but only 2,892 women (and 30 men) die from breast cancer. http://www.cancer.org.au/about-cancer/types-of-cancer/

In Australia, men die of stubbornness.

I was agreeing that charging the monkeys is stupid. But also that the people around her are jerks and in some places could be charged.

If you were being mugged and people walked by not helping, you'd be pretty pissed at them. Some places have laws to charge people for not providing aid (such as calling authorities) when they could. This is why the bystanders in the rape upon which "The Accused" is based (Jodie Foster is raped in a bar while everyone else in the bar just watches and cheers it on) the bystanders were also charged. Just because monkeys are naturally little assholes doesn't mean you shouldn't help someone out when …

Some claim could be brought against the people who just watched her while she was in distress, though. Depends on the local laws, since not every place has such a law. But yeah, wanting to charge monkeys is silly, though she probably wasn't in her right mind at the time.

I'll admit I thought the post title was clever. But I hoped for more rational discussion than "yeah dude!" It's taken out of context. I'm not sure which statement you are referring to. I've added more context than OP. But even OP's statement isn't really sexist, unless you feel that "all sorts of situations" means "more situations than the other group", which of course be a challenging position to prove given the number of possible situations there are. I feel it just means "a significant number…

I agree that the "we are a threat to men" mentality needs to go. Clearly there are men for whom an intelligent woman isn't a threat. I'm pretty particular about the guys I hang out with, so I have little experience with the other kind. But I know they exist, and a significant number have significant influence. If you give her the benefit of the doubt and agree she was actually talking about just the men for whom intelligent women are a threat, then her statements do make sense. "All sorts of sit…

Lagarde was equally as blunt: “Women are better equipped than men to deal with all sorts of situations and better able to adjust, which is a sign of intelligence. As a consequence, we are a threat to men … This is something I learned from my sons. I think that if we agree that men and women are better at different things, then "Women are better equipped than men to deal with all sorts of situations and better able to adjust" must be true for those situations where women are better. It isn't talk…

It's kind of an intimate topic. He can't just say "No, this is how I'm being pussy-whipped" to you. They can joke that it happens, but I don't think they would be comfortable explaining the unpleasant aspects of their SOs, particularly since you know one of the women. Maybe if you were mostly the engaged guy's friend and only met his fiancée occasionally through him, but he also might not be used to discussing relationship stuff with a woman.

I haven't seen this possibility voiced yet: that they just didn't believe you. Sure, you were probably telling the truth and your SO does tell you when you are mistaken, but the women these guys have met were not like that. And they didn't want to say they didn't believe you to your face. Maybe if they were closer friends they might have. So what else can they say? They doubtlessly didn't want to go into how their SOs make them miserable when they first tried to disagree. I'm fairly opinionated …

And if all the other unattached women were sluts, there would be less demand for your wife. Though some guys only want what they can't have.

I am thankful for the glossary of terms in the sidebar. It's like listening to people from another country, sometimes.

Frankly, in the clubs I've seen, bottle service is about the only way to have a great time. Book in advance to avoid waiting in line. See if you can get on guest lists. Also, XS Vegas in Encore opens up to the pool on Sunday nights, often with excellent DJs. Swimware highly encouraged. And pay for a table/lounge chairs to stash your stuff. Hot bodies everywhere.

If a girl comes up to you and says "Hey, nice shirt! Let's do shots!", she expects to be paid at the end of the evening. True story.

But it is also difficult for many people to be confrontational or put themselves in a situation they expect (rightly or wrongly) to be confrontational. My experience is that people would rather complain to the boss than the person.
