Unfortunately many universities require a gender studies or equivalent course as part of the humanities general education requirements. I was able to dodge it through a technicality when I was studying physics but some of my friends in engineering who were not quite so lucky likened it to being put in the stocks for an hour, three days a week.

It's estimated that upwards of 50-75% of all fertilized eggs either fail to implant or result in miscarriage due to a failure in the genetic bootstrap. I'd argue that miscarriage is a damn good thing in most cases. Regarding your position on abortion, you're coming from the position that a fetus that is not yet fully developed is a person which is a dubious proposition at best. The challenge is that we don't have a good demarcation for 'personhood' which is why we allow abortion before viability…

This decision by MS really put me on the fence regarding whether I should pick up Halo 4. I may still buy it but will probably just call people "bourgeois oppressor of the masses" and "prole" or some such economic class based epithets.

Pretty much what I was going to say. What was described was a dominance display intended to make the chivalrous more attractive to the girl he was paying deference to. Essentially he was saying that not only would he put her before himself but he had the capability to force others to defer to her as well. This probably wasn't a rational calculus but an instinctual behavior.

Demanding that you isolate yourself from female friends outside her sphere of influence? No, that's not abuse. Yes, it's standard behavior. And, yes, in case you're wondering it's fucked up and it means that she doesn't trust you not to cheat on her which probably means that cheating or trading up is something that crosses her mind on a semi-regular basis.
