I'm thinking he's got an unmet emotional need or social wound from childhood or adolescence that's the root of his problems with money, and that he needs to become aware of this, and then start resisting it as defining him.

I'm working on a website that's focused on studying and building theories around monogamy, it has topic flair, but there won't be any for debate.
