That's irrelevant. It was already a fight at that point, not self-defense. Self-defense ceased the moment she fell on the bed and he kept attacking her. You would be right if he had not done that, she stood up again and assaulted him again. Anyway, we can argue all day. My point is that people should learn the difference between self-defense and assault, because a lot of times people think they are acting in self-defense but aren't, and that's how a lot of people ended up in prison.

Assaulting someone because you think they are planning an attack is not self-defense. That's the principle of imminence.

No. Self-defense is ruled by five principles, imminence, innocence, avoidance, proportionality, and reasonableness. What you're saying is that his reaction satisfies the principle of innocence, since she started the fight. It's not self-defense. It's retaliation. Edit: Seriously, I'm being downvoted? Learn the difference between self-defense and assault, people. There are lots of people in jail for assault, whining that they were just defending themselves.
