They just want the total available number of pussy to go up.

I’ve had male friends that have been abused, falsely accused of rape, and one was stabbed by his girlfriend. None of them received any sort of justice. My friend that was accused tried killing himself because he was in medical school and didn’t want that on his record. In principle, I would consider myself a feminist, but I really don’t like associating myself with many feminists today.

Yeah, and it’s really hard to avoid palm oil. There’s other names they use for it that they put on packaging for food and soap. The soap I use is a little more expensive, but there’s no palm oil in it.
/r/MensRights07/11/20 05:06 PM

Well, that’s sort of arguable, but palm oil is in sooooo many things. It’s in your food, too. Virtually every candy bar. It was added into soaps to increase foaming because people believe bubbles do the cleaning when that’s not even true. It’s the soap itself that cleans, but since customers liked bubbles, manufacturers made products that made bubbles. By adding palm oil.

Palm oil harvesting. Look it up. It’s destroying the environment and the habitat of orangutans.
/r/MensRights07/11/20 04:37 PM

I refuse to buy those products because they contribute to the extinction of the orangutans.

I wouldn't say that it's comparabe to fat shaming. There's a huge difference between shaming someone for their weight and telling them that they might want to take care of their health in a nice way.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 08:53 PM
1

I would never say something like that. I just think we should be able to let men express themselves without being viewed as "weak" or "gay".
/r/MensRights12/11/19 08:32 PM
1

Your second point about men is the literal textbook definition of toxic masculinity. It's ironic that you're agreeing with me about the definition of it, but disagreeing with me on the termonilogy used.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 06:50 PM
1

It's the context that makes it positive or negative. Of course. I just mentioned in this case, it's positive. Basically reiterating what you said. It's embedded in their DNA Source? Men aren't afraid of speaking up, ... He will feel like less of a man because he spoke out. Holy mother of contradictions.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 06:19 PM

Clearly you haven't visited the sub enough. What a strawman.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 03:41 PM

It doesn't matter who is reinforcing the toxic culture. If we had men praising women for making false rape accusations, we'd still call it toxic femininity because we're reinforcing toxic feminine behaviors. Even though it's a woman imposing these behaviors in a man, it's still the man that has his behavior influenced in a toxic way.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 03:40 PM

whether or not handling your emotions, and handling your responsibilities within a society are admirable traits There are two thougts to this. One is that there is an ideal, and the other is what is. What is the current culture towards men handling their emotions? Okay, now that we have that we can ask ourselves what should be the culture. If there is a disparity, then we have a problem. If men aren't able to positively express themselves in our culture, then we live in a toxic culture.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 03:36 PM
1

The ability to remain stoic and in control under pressure can be positive That's a positive masculine trait, great. if the problem is so insurmountable alone that it causes harm. That's literally what toxic masculinity is. Men are sometimes afraid of speaking up about their troubles because of the culture they live in.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 03:32 PM
1

What term should we use to describe the literal definition of toxic masculinity?
/r/MensRights12/11/19 03:30 PM
1

Ad hominem, classic.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 03:30 PM
1

That's literally the definition of toxic masculinity. Society (the woman in this case) imposes certain standards on men to stay in line (to not feel emotions and express ourselves, because women can only feel emotions). It's not that we necessarily do it ourself, it's the culture that does it.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 02:25 PM
1

That's literally the definition of toxic masculinity. Our culture enforces behaviors for men that don't allow them to speak out about their mental health.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 02:23 PM
1

You're saying we're toxic for doing this, but not toxic for doing that, which I suppose is a more level-headed and nuanced approach to man-bashing, it's still basically saying "men are born wrong and need to change Wrong. It's saying it's the culture we're born into that creates some of our toxic behavior, not that we're born like that. It's an attempt to change our culture to help men with lots of the problems they face, especially when it comes to society's expectations of men to always be sto…

I don’t believe men are very good at expressing their emotions, and our culture suppresses men that try to. Give me good examples of men purposefully being vulnerable without being attacked by other men for being a pussy.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 01:58 AM

You misunderstand. Good masculine traits like leadership and strength are vastly different than toxic traits like bullying other men for expressing their feelings.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 01:13 AM

No, I’m saying that masculinity as a whole is different than just the toxic parts of it. That’s like saying that there are bad behaviors that are specific to black culture, but no that all of black culture is bad.
/r/MensRights12/11/19 01:12 AM
-6

Do you think that it’s good for men to bottle up their emotions?
/r/MensRights12/11/19 01:10 AM
-1

Would you say that bottling your emotions up is not a good trait to have? Would you also say that there is even social pressure for men to “man up” and not express himself emotionally?
/r/MensRights12/11/19 01:10 AM

Yes of course there is. I’ve mentioned it many times before and have called people out on it.

That's funny because in /r/MensLib, there's a post right now talking about "Man box culture" Man box culture, or what A CALL TO MEN founder, Tony Porters refers to simply as The Man Box, is the bullying and sometimes violent enforcement of a narrowly defined set of rules for being a man. Ironically, this is the literal definition of toxic masculinity. I think it's a bad term because it's easily misinterpreted, but it really is about the toxic aspects of maculinity, it's not saying masculinity as…

Yes boys are often ignored in school systems and later on in life and DO need help as much as women, but women also do need support in a society that traditionally treated them as second class citizens. You have to remember that older women that are still alive today lived in a time where women never had the opportunity to do the things they wanted to do, and that culture still permeates through our society today. We need to be supportive of both men and women, not ignoring anyone because they "…

I most certainly considered context in your comment. You said most hot girls are dumb. You assume that the majority of them will cry rape, when that's demonstrably false. That's like saying every gun owner is a future mass shooter because we hear about mass shootings in the our 24 hour news cycle.

Just like with any word it can be used positively or negatively. Nice try, troll.
/r/MensRights02/10/19 08:20 PM
-2

Just like with any word, it matters on the context. Women can make jokes online about being "sluts", but as soon as someone calls a woman a slut to degrade her, it becomes a slur. Of course you can use "female" properly, without any negative connotation, however the word is being used with a negative connotation in the manosphere.

You're right, it's just a word, and it's technically correct to say it, however you can't deny that there are a lot of guys that use the word "female" in a derrogatory manner. I mean, who the hell talks like that? "I had a date with a female the other day!"

For one, I think that first identifying and quantifying something is the first step to solving an issue. Secondly, I think this ties in a lot with many privacy concerns that people have against mass survaillence. You can't deny that there are networks of subreddits that people go to specifically to hate. Even though the methods in the paper are flawed doesn't mean that their hypothesis is automatically null. As referenced in the paper I originally commented on, their approach is much more subtle and reaches more or less the same conclusion. Do you have any thoughts on the 2017 paper rather than the 2019 one? All the downvotes come from people in denial.
/r/MensRights26/09/19 09:12 PM

I agree that their approach was amateurish, that's why I hoped they would use techniques set in the paper I linked to. However, I guess in their defense, they're trying to test their hypothesis in a simple way. Do you agree with their hypothesis?

I think the distinction is a legal one. Like there's obviously a difference between forced penetration and groping, and it should be reflected in the law. I mentioned before that there's a biological disparity between men and women because women can't be forced to penetrate (except in very rare cases where they use foreign objects). If we want to prosecute sex crimes appropriately, the severity of sexual coresion should be near or at the same level as rape. However, the connotation of "sexual co…

Explain to her that if she actually does get raped, people won't want to believe her because she's known for threatening false rape accusations. She won't change her behavior unless it directly effects her.
/r/MensRights29/08/19 02:48 PM

The only way to handle that is to pull her aside and carefully explain to her that she can get in big trouble for making a false accusation like that. AND she also loses credibility, so if she actually does get raped, people won't believe her. It hurts all women, and it hurts men (obviously, but putting it in terms of consequences she and her friends will face will probably work better than saying it'll hurt men, even if it's true). It's a perfect example of toxic femininity.

The risks of not being circumcised, however, are not only rare, but avoidable with proper care of the penis. Literally from the link you posted. Risks from the link you posted: The foreskin might be cut too short or too long The foreskin might fail to heal properly The remaining foreskin might reattach to the end of the penis, requiring minor surgical repair

You're taking aberrant behavior of extremely small groups of men and saying that is representative of the social whole. Just the vocal minority. You can say the same thing about the KKK, and how it's a small group of extreme individuals, but that ignores the fact that there are millions more people that support the group, but don't want their views to be publicly known. Of course it is. We don't say that to little girls. We console them, or try to make a hardship a teaching moment. With boys, it's just "stop being a pussy!". I'm not saying we need to baby our children, or even console them for every little thing. But if all these grown men consistently say that they could have been able to handle situations much better had they had a more nurturing environment growing up (or have resources available for their current hardships), then I think it's a problem. I don't think there is any gender norm that says emotions should be bottled up forever That's what I was asking. And no, as I said before, it doesn't exclusively apply to men. However, there are problems men face that women don't particularily face. That's what makes it a gendered issue.

and I do think all of "toxic masculinity" is bullshit. So you think it's perfectly fine to tell boys to "grow up" or "man up" when they face hardships instead of trying to help them. I think you're trying to overly dissect this. Of course those traits aren't exclusive to men, however these traits are typically attributed more to men than to women. If you took a personality test of every human, you'd find that men, on average, have higher scores in these areas than women do.

You're arging such a moot point. I interact with many different people just about every day. I hear from the conservative crowd that they are generally against feminism because feminism "attacks" traditional gender roles. Who's to say that the rhetoric won't change from "why are feminists calling masculinity toxic?" to "why are feminists calling traditional gender roles toxic?" Do you have a term that won't run into this problem?

Traditionally, strength, courage, independence, leadership, and assertiveness.
/r/MensRights26/08/19 09:50 PM

That's not a good enough answer for me. Your main argument is that "toxic masculinity" is not descriptive enough. Your alternative, "toxic gender roles" has the same exact percieved connotation. "What, so we're calling gender roles toxic, now?" "Not ALL gender roles are toxic!" "This is an attack on traditional gender roles!!!11"

/r/MensRights26/08/19 09:44 PM

It's only confusing because the way our language is set up, the modifier "toxic" is automatically universally applied to "masculine", where the intentional meaning is just parts of masculinity is toxic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythopoetic_men's_movement The mythopoetic movement tends to regard gender as biological realities, "hardwired" into the psyches of men and women. This gender essentialism is consistent with the Jungian philosophy undergirding the movement. Mythopoetic men thus speak of the need to recover "deep masculinity," to distinguish what they regard as genuine or mature masculinity from the problematic toxic masculinity of immature males. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxic_masculinity#Etymology_and_usage Please read just that one section, if you read anything at all on that page. The term "toxic masculinity wasn't created by feminists, it was created by the Mythopoetic men's movement in the 90's, and inspired by Carl Jung's ideas. Yes, there are feminists that are toxic to men no matter what. Just like there are MRA that are toxic to women no matter what. You can't use the toxic people in the group to define the whole group.

I'm not twisting anything. You need to stop it with your persecution complex and see the facts objectively. "Toxic Masculinity" was created solely as a sexist attack on males by a minority of women Wrong. It was created by men and based on Carl Jung's ideas. These are almost entirely current-day Western social problems which have a strong influence on how females and males are conditioned to act. You're beginning to understand what I'm trying to say. This is exactly what is meant with "toxic masculinity" and "toxic femininity". They are the result of how their environment influence their behaviour according to whether they're male or female, not the result of being male or female. Exactly! The disctinction is pedantic, but necessary. Outside of West…

There are bad behaviors that are universal, and there are bad behaviors that are gender specific. Addressing the universal ones are good, but addressing the gender specific behaviors is also needed. For example, women aren't generally told to "man up" when they face hardships. Conversely, men aren't told that they aren't thin enough. These gender specific toxic behaviors need to be taken care of.

"Toxicity" is neither a masculine nor feminine quality. Totally agreed. There is also toxic femininity that needs more awareness. Not saying that femininity as a whole is toxic, but that there are parts of femininity that are toxic, just like how toxic masculinity is defined. I'm not playing word games, I'm saying the literal definition of what it is.

No, toxic is an adjective to describe not the whole of masculinity, but only a part of it. It's ironic that you're the one playing word games to twist the literal textbook definition to please your agenda. If I were to say "there are bad cops in the force", I'm not referring to "all cops are bad", rather I'm saying that there are some cops in the whole that are bad.

Feminism isn't saying that masculinity is a problem. In fact, they say that most of masculinity is good, much like how most of femininity is good. "Toxic masculinity" only highlights the toxic aspects of masculinity, not masculinity as a whole.

The vast majority of the comments in that post that were upvoted were yelling about how that's not true, and that feminism is to blame (talk about irony). I never said nor implied that men are inherently bad, in a purely philosophical sense. If we're being exact, men are more aggressive than females, at least in humans and many other mammals. But getting back to the issue at hand, of course what you said about sexism is true. In fact that's what I was implying. However, women face sexism as well, but we don't see nearly as many female shooters than male shooters.

Yes, my point was that their voices gets heard more, which ultimately has a more profound effect on culture. This becomes a compund problem because as a result of the backlash of their voiced opinions, they become more polarized and extreme, further crystallizing their ideas. The real solution is when real feminists call them out and have honest conversation about why they're wrong. To be perfectly honest with you, I don't see it happen too often.

I really hope they aren't as common as people think, but it doesn't really matter how common they are if they are the most vocal and active. Sowing discord in American society. Stories like this tend to rile up redpill/MGTOW type people. They also play the other end. They pretend to be feminists on twitter and attack the story to rile up people more. There's so many damn fake twitter accounts. Men vs women. Black vs white. Rich vs poor. Dems vs Republicans. Divide and conquer.

Like what feminism was supposed to be?
/r/MensRights05/06/19 06:16 PM

Yes it's been around, but it hasn't been so popularized until recently. Circumcision rates hit all-time highs in the 90's.
/r/MensRights21/05/19 03:47 PM
3

As a leader of the anti-masturbation movement, Kellogg promoted extreme measures to prevent masturbation. He circumcised himself at age 37. His methods for the "rehabilitation" of masturbators included measures up to the point of mutilation without anesthetic, on both sexes. He was an advocate of circumcising young boys to curb masturbation and applying carbolic acid to a young woman's clitoris.

/r/MensRights21/05/19 03:32 PM

No, it's not. A man named John Kellogg made it mainstream by saying that it would prevent boys from masturbating. It was a form of sexual control over boys, just like how female genital mutilation is a form of sexual control for girls.

/r/MensRights21/05/19 03:28 PM

The entire reason why people in the United States are so obsessed with male genital mutilation is because of a man named John Kellogg. He was obsessed with the idea that cutting the tip off of a boy's penis would prevent them from masturbating. He also wanted to put boys in chastity belts. The whole point was to control men's sexuality, just like how female genital mutilation controls women's sexuality. He was a crazy man, and people believed him.

Yes. You can be criminally negligent, and not have intended to do something. However, 20 years is still longer than some first world countries have for their crimes. America really has a hard on for being "tough on crime". America has 5% of the world's population, but houses 20% of the world's prisoners. You really think our sentencing requirements is reducing crime? It's destroying lives, and leaving people with no other option. Private prisons profit off of it, and they laugh at us.

You're not very articulate. I'm being as articulate as possible. You have very bad reading comprehension. I responded to a guy that said it's absurd that a woman felt the need to smack someone because she felt "threatned". I agreed. And I thought that it was a bit out of place to insert that kind of rhetoric into this conversation about domestic abuse so I told him that they are right sometimes. There are men that have fragile egos; men that are overcompensating. Then people…

Where's the scientific data" about fragile male egos then ? I'm glad you asked. There's mounds of research on narcissism, and how it relates to ego. It's a fact women compete with each other far more than men do with each other Where's the scientific evidence for that fact? Women are far more likely to be ... in therapy Is that partly because there's more resources for women's mental health? This is a men's right's subreddit, right? You seem to be the one forcing the "one or the other" narrative. How am I doing that? I literally said that both genders have their problems. Why are you twisting my words? women, who as a gender are comparatively more fragile with their egos. Proof? Where's the data that definitively shows this?
/r/MensRights26/03/19 03:39 PM

Women can have fragile egos, too. It's not one or the other. That's not how it works. Just because some women are hypocrites, doesn't mean that everything they say is invalidated. A drunk can tell you not to drink. The men downvoting me certainly have fragile egos if they can't admit that.
/r/MensRights26/03/19 03:29 PM

So here we have a female who, "feeling" threatened, assaults a man. That's messed up. Yet these women want to insult men with their "fragile male egos" ? To be fair, a lot of guys do have fragile egos. Edit: Go ahead and downvote me without saying anything. You're just proving my point.

If we have toxic masculinity, what is toxic femininity? violence that stems from man-hating. Men generally aren't "man-haters", however, there is a rising number of women that would be considered to be "man-hating". This is why it's a gendered specific phenomenon. Is that like, lying about paternity, manipulating people's emotions, etc? Yes, I've explained this in the last response.
