21	Even gay men get sick of hook up culture What's worse is how apologists talk about it as a nostalgic coming of age thing instead of predatory. It's particularly insidious in the LGBT community because a lot of these kids have been cut off by their families, and are desperate for a support network. 17	This is the type of men who are fleeing Afghanistan. I will always only go to bat for women and children and nothing will convince me to do otherwise. They're also assuming that risking their lives makes them good people, and deserving of citizenship. A lot of the terps we worked with were creeps. I deployed there, and the women's outreach programs I was periodically assigned to felt hollow because of things like this. We were forced to ignore it as a matter of policy.
