Part of me felt this was being too direct, but i just couldn't miss the chance of never seeing her again. I think i'll test the waters as you say with more casual girls at the gym, even though i might not feel particularly attracted to them. I'm not looking for one night stands or sex, I actually want to meet women, so i must find a way to look interested in them, but no so much in a sexual way, while actually being a bit flirty if you know what i mean.

Mark Manson's book was the first and only book i've read on this subject, and it was what made me gain courage to approach this girl. Still haven't read his blog but I will certainly. Thanks a lot man!

In the end I think we just have to learn to accept ourselves for who we are, we can only go so far in certain aspects. If we were all pretty, charming, funny, confident, etc we wouldn't be here discussing this for sure. We aren't perfect, so aren't girls. I think we tend to think that only WE have problems, but what about them? Of course we try to be the best we can with what we got, but in the end we're all humans looking for the same things more or less.

Indeed! I remember Mark Manson talking about the 3 second rule. If he sees a new girl that he finds attractive, he has 3 seconds to approach, else he won't. That way he avoids preparation and overthinking. I think that's a really good technique but in my opinion it needs some "small talk" game that i currently lack. Baby steps :)

Indeed i do and i see a lot of similarities regarding adaptation to new challenges and just keep working on it, and never skip a day. There's good days and bad days, but what matters is that you show up and workout, in this case, that I interact with people and girls in general, and change my "routine" according to my progress. Eventually i hope to get better over time. Thanks a lot for the support!

I'm really bad at faking feelings. I prefer to be honest and upfront than to rather mask my weaknesses somehow. I know some pick-up artists like to use that technique, but i feel like you're way more genuine if you just show yourself as the way you are, even if it goes really bad.

Cheers man! Before approaching her i was actually in doubt if i should have said "excuse me..." or "i don't want to interrupt...", and be a little more agressive/direct. In the moment fear got me and i had to say it and it just felt wrong, so hopefully it will be the last time i'll say it. Glad you mentioned the surrounding environment. There were 2 guys 3 bikes next to her, and i remember looking at them and they were looking at me when i was talking to her, so they were listening. That even go…

Thanks! I actually have been thinking to try to approach more girls even if i'm not interested in them, just for practice, it seems to be the only way since i don't see many girls on a day-to-day basis, particularly ones that catch my attention. Logical side of me says it might be good, but then there's another side of me that says that i shouldn't "use" whatever girl for self improvement and fake my feelings. I'm really bad at faking. And they most likely will notice it in a second.

Thanks for the support! Even though I think i'm a "nice catch" (personality wise) i don't actually "believe" in it if you know what i mean. Like I know i'm not a douche, nor a bad guy or whatever, i'm a regular guy but if i actually felt this way, i wouldn't have this anxiety and low self-esteem right? Hard to explain, i know i'm "awesome" but i actually don't feel that way... I think that the fact that i never got told that i'm either ugly or pretty, or nice guy or douche by a girl, makes me co…

My thoughts exactly. The rejection itself wasn't what got me down, before approaching her i thought to myself "She looks like a nice girl and she's got that exotic look, 90% she has a bf" so i was kinda expecting it. What got me down was rather the fact that I started breaking as soon as i started talking. Eye contact has always been a problem for me (same as smiling) due to the self-esteem problems i mentioned before. I think this will be my biggest battle, since i cannot physically change them…

I'm portuguese, so english is not my native language, also i always loved Norway and would love to live there, unfortunately there's a lot more career oportunities in Sweden than in Norway, but there's something really sexy about norwegian that i cannot feel in the swedish language hehe. Also would love to learn german and japanese.

Thank you! I'm actually thinking of learning a new language soon, most likely Norwegian. Sometimes it can be rough trying to improve one's self confidence, specially being depressed and socially isolated most of my life, it feels like a race against time because i'm not that "young" anymore and have so much to work on with myself. Have to keep on trying nonetheless.

Thanks for your input. I'm usually very busy and the gym is one of the few places i can potentially meet girls, so without being as direct as i was, and specifically with a girl that wears earphones (doesn't want to be disturbed?), what would you suggest as a conversation starter? I was simple and honest since i followed an advice by Mark Manson's on his book "Attracting Women through Honesty".

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
