She's one of those wonderful individuals whose rights are more important than the rights of others. Namely the right to abort a living thing because of a lack responsibility is more important than the 1st amendment.
It's quicker for you to look it up than me explain fully. The short version is that a person holding a knife that is 21 ft away can be attack a person before they are able to draw and shoot. It is considered a lethal threat. That is why he kept backing away to keep a safe distance while she advanced. When she charged him she was within that 21 foot distance.
