I would recommend the children's book "My papi has a motorcycle"

I wonder how many of those perpetrators are men vs women? Is that completed suicides or attempts? It's well known that men more likely to use a more lethal method of suicide attempt and thus complete suicide at a higher rate For the incarceration rate, I'd be interested to see the stats on who commits more crime

I agree with you. I didn't mean to imply that everyone who holds that belief subscribes to that level of extremity, in fact, id argue it's quite the opposite. I mean, extreme views are by definition edge cases. My point was just that I feel like it's become associated and hijacked by extremists to the point that many people link the two.

Sounds like you have a very tempered opinion on the matter but you have to understand that pro life didn't just become a radical belief. It became radical through the bombing of abortion clinics, harassing of women seeking abortions, and the activist laws minimum reducing the number of clinics to as low as one per STATE, and forcing women to be subjected to invasive medical procedures prior to getting an abortion, and in some cases, having to have a funeral for the fetus. That's why it's conside…

You'd be surprised. I have lots of friends who don't even know how to clean, let alone do it. Same for child care

Nothing like a nice grape manischevitz wine to pair with some newborn dick blood. Seriously though, as a Jew, a male, and a person: ew.

This article sounds like it was written in the 1950's-- I'm surprised that article didn't diagnose women with hysteria.

Your first point is a good one, is probably true, and is one I've never really considered. As to your second though, I feel it's a bit sexist to assume women's problems and failed suicide attempts are categorically disingenuine. While I agree most suicides (by men and women) are actually cries for help, as has been repeatedly stated in this thread women tend to use less directly lethal means (such as taking pills) whereas men trend to use guns, making it less likely for a man to survive a suicid…

Ha ha, never really thought about that before, but completed is how it's always written in my counseling textbooks--yeah successful is kind of dark...

7) women make more suicide attempts, but men are more likely to use a gun, and therefore have a higher rate of completed suicides. That being said--damn this list hurts my man self... Edit: to all those saying women are just seeking attention: I sincerely hope no women in your lives ever seek your aid if they ever feel suicidal I always thought this whole sub is (supposed) to be about equality, rather than gender bashing, as so many posts here accuse feminists of doing. As such, you're not helpi…

Good point, but I think for a girl who wants to be approached, odds are that the group would decrease her chances overall.

It might be cliche, but I try to comment on the girls clothes, shoes, bracelet, hair, something I think others might not be commenting on. However, there is a fine line between creepy and smooth. I try to say it in a just-wanted-to-let-you-know type of way, ie., excuse me, I was just sitting/walking and saw the way your x sets off your y and had to tell you.

Big ups to this. So true. Girls make great mentors and lesbians are even better. They know the enemy and can give you the inside scoop. You say you have platonic girl friends, go out with them. They can help you break down the body language and cues and maybe even break the ice for you. However, being with girls can be off putting to some girls so use sparingly. You may want to just find a girl who you can talk with after the fact and help you break down what happened and where aahs how it went …

I'd also add girls in groups--separate yourself from the pack, even momentarily if you wanna be approached. The last thing I want is to be shot down in front of a group of chicks.

I don't know. I mean its 2012, so certainly the dating playing field in much more even keeled than it once was and unlike in the past, you won't be assumed to be a ”slut” just because you take initiative. With that said, I understand your apprehensions. I once dated a girl woo told me she would never approach a guy because then she would never know if he really liked her or just thought he could score because he knew she was diggin him. I never thought of it like that before but out makes sense.…
