In high school I was one of the guys who read something like this and believed it. Thought I knew something other guys didn't, since most of the guys I knew didn't do this sort of thing.

My gf has caught on to this, although I don't really use it when she nags, but when she just keeps going on and on and on and on about something. I'll kiss her and she'll kiss back. Then she'll say, "hey, wait...did you just kiss me so I'd shut up?" Me: "Nooo... I would never do that" [with sarcasm]

No, it would not be okay. Trust me on this. That's like you making a statement, her challenging you on it, and you backing down immediately. A very bad precedent to set.

I hate to say this, but I've come to the conclusion that things women like and things that make women more attracted to a guy can often be two different things. An example - my gf will probably say she hates it when I hang out with my friends a lot. But when I do have those periods where I don't see her very much, I can tell she is more attracted to me.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that you should insist that the two of you go to marriage therapy. If you find a good therapist, he/she can really help. If she does not want to go, explain to her that you are very unhappy and right now the only other option you can see is to leave her. If she still will not go with you, start talking to a lawyer about divorce proceedings. And if I were you, I wouldn't tell her you're doing this.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
