For a couple making around half a mil a year, why on EARTH are you not hiring a housekeeper twice a week and whatever other domestic help you need? Why on earth are you trying to do it all? Your time is worth more RESTING so you can be strong for your income generating time. My goodness, I was triggered right there.

Most of these guys have already borrowed money for stuff they can't afford and have loans to pay. They want to look like they have status before they actually do. As a mid-40s woman, I'm not thinking about the $4 for long. I'm looking at the bigger picture. How much debt does he have. How long does he expect me to stay on the hamster wheel of work/save to pay off his debt? Does he plan to work into his late 70s to pay it all off? What kind of guy keeps borrowing money for things he obviously can…

It gets even worse as successful women get older. I did NOT work for decades and bank a small fortune to fund some guy's retirement. We were never on the same page, so why would we be now? Now if i had obscene amounts of wealth i would have a half dozen "artist" or "misunderstood" boyfriends.

At the very least I hope she would never do that to her cat.

I'm with you but I've advanced my fantasy to where I buy the house next door and he lives there. We can even put a little gate in the fence for him to come calling.

Your workplace is where you seek out other women to network with and find ways to work together to raise each other up. I actively seek out women to mentor when they join my company, bring them under my wing and favor them for new projects, new opportunities and access to other senior leaders. I'm NOT looking to hook up at work. Not ever. Men are "intimidated" by me (whatever that means) and I like it that way. I'm a leader. I'm the boss. One day you won't be the new girl - you will be the boss …

Arch game: Usually referring to a woman in the doggystyle position's ability to arch her back. Must also be willing to fake orgasms.

Two things work for me. First, I allow myself to mourn, even cry if i am feeling blue, but only for a limited time. 10 minutes - then i get moving on a chore on my list, or read a few chapters in my book, get on reddit, whatever. I just make it a habit of giving my sorrow a good workout for a few minutes and then switch my physical/mental state. I feel better honoring how i really feel and then feel even better about my ability to leave it behind after a few minutes. I always tell myself i can h…

I'm in a similar spot. Mid-40's, sweet life, literally have/do whatever i want, so a man is going to have to add something to my life and make it easier/better. Unfortunately, the net result is often a loss to me - most single men in my demo are woefully inadequate. Not intellectually, not socially, not financially, not domestically. So why complicate my life with that nonsense? Yet I feel like i should not be "alone".... and my parents worry about me. Lately I've been imagining what menopause m…

Ah, the old "leaning against a random boat" like we're gonna believe that's your boat. Get outta here.

This is the kind of straight talk I like to hear. Thanks for not mincing words. If the house is on fire you yell FIRE GTFO! You don't lollygag around.

Thanks for writing this all down. Someone needs to take these long-form essays and publish on medium. This is a really shrewd commentary on culture and society of the generations. This was the dynamic in my family (my dad is now totally reformed, but that's another story). I feel like i can do anything, meanwhile men in my age-range are so narrowly focused in their capabilities.

I feel the same way about relationship therapy that goes beyond a few sessions. It's not that hard to explain how I feel, not that hard to listen, not that hard to not be a man-baby. Such a waste of money and more importantly time. My sister had been in marriage counseling for 2 years - over 100 sessions and she's being gaslit by her husband and therapist that she still needs to explain herself better. That there's more "work" to be done. What a scam.

My dad does this with my mom all the while telling the rest of us around the table that mom's cooking is better than a restaurant, she's the smartest person in the family (she kinda is) and she's beautiful. They are married for 45 years

When i was circular dating I had 4 Steves at some point. They got nicknames in my phone (also used to keep girlfriends up to date) like Steve Hockey, Steve White Car, Steve Poet, Steve Dad.

Is flirting appropriate? And what kind of flirting do classy ladies like us partake in that is a skosh above "friendly"?

My situation is surely different but, I've got guys in my phone I've dated in the past. Some are still friends, some are business associates, some are just interesting people that didn't work out with me but are worth knowing. I think part of dating is networking, not every guy you meet is going to be your lover. Sometimes you find better roles for them in your life. I, for one, am glad that i can date someone, realize we aren't on the same path and both of us move on knowing that our paths may …
