I think “I’ve barely ever read anything like this from women online” is the key phrase to all of this. You’re looking in a very male-centric and very public environment, which is probably not where most women are choosing to vent their frustrations and deepest insecurities. There are plenty of women who feel unattractive and discuss their flaws, but they are likely not inviting you into those conversations due to the deeply personal and vulnerable nature of the subject.

Looool I know the feeling 🥲

Yeah, it happens a little bit there depending on who I’m talking to. Not as much as it does in real life though.

That’s an interesting point, because even if I don’t always understand what women are talking about, I don’t usually feel excluded or like I shouldn’t participate in the conversation. It’s more just that I don’t know what to say lol. But it is more comfortable. And then with men, even if I have some opinions that might be relevant to the discussion, I hesitate more. Like I have to really weigh my points and make sure they’re worth bringing up, or make sure I could defend them if I needed to.

Like I said, it’s a big generalization so I can’t say this happens 100% of the time. And a lot of it may be the specific groups I deal with. But if I’m at a party or something, it’s pretty easy to find a group of male acquaintances who are talking about something I understand or am interested in - video games, certain sports, most of my male friends have jobs in tech so they’ll discuss specifics about that, etc. It’s stuff I have experience with and can form opinions on. But lots of men seem to …

Sorry this is real autistic, but I was just thinking about how there’s a very gendered spin to the “I’m a normal human” mask I put on in conversations with NT people. I’m a woman, but with other women, I have to do a lot of lying to pretend like I understand the content of what they’re saying - their interests/experiences or whatever. But then it’s usually easy for me to match their tone and energy during the conversation. With men, it’s the other way around. I can understand/authentically conne…

Yeah. As long as he's willing to listen to me ramble about nerdy shit, I don't see why that would be a problem.

Something about it is really soothing to me! I can’t explain it. But I also don’t live in an area that gets slammed with big broods often. I think we don’t have another one until 2025 or something…so check back in with me then, lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/22 09:23 PM

I actually like the noise a lot. But I don’t like them leaving their skins everywhere, that’s nasty

I feel you. Final Fantasy X is my favorite RPG of all time. I love that kind of depth, even if it’s very structured. Open worlds are impressive and shiny, but every interaction usually feels very surface level.

I did not tell anyone to give anyone a chance. I am asking a question about a social dynamic I do not understand. As an autistic individual, these things are not always clear to me, and I appreciate learning more about the quirks of heterosexual dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:27 PM

Yes, that does make sense. Thank you for framing it that way.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:23 PM

Why do you think I would never say that to a woman?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:22 PM

Is there a preferable angle that isn’t considered deceitful by men?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:20 PM

Then wouldn’t it be simpler to only pursue women who include clear pictures of their torso?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:19 PM

Why is discovering that an individual is unattractive more of a waste of time than discovering they are boring, obnoxious, rude, any other dealbreaker that may become apparent when you meet in person?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:18 PM
1

In that case, is it preferable that women not take flattering photos for online dating, in order to present their most realistic self?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:13 PM
1

I will repeat my questions for you: First, can you not rely on context clues like facial structure, clothing style, etc. to make an informed guess? And second, if the only thing that would be a potential dealbreaker is the woman being overweight, why is it not worth meeting in person to assess that?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:12 PM
1

Two questions. First, can you not rely on context clues like facial structure, clothing style, etc. to make an informed guess? And second, if the only thing that would be a potential dealbreaker is the woman being overweight, why is it not worth meeting in person to assess that?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:12 PM

That’s always been my assumption. I do not understand why someone would ever need to ask a woman “are you actually fat?”
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:10 PM

It really depends on the topics and what is informing their views. If we have significantly different core values, it won’t work at all, no matter how they act/talk about it. But if there’s still a connection in our underlying values, and they’ve just landed on different solutions, it would be easier to navigate.

I don’t think there is enough of a clear regional split for anything other than a “cold” civil war with pockets of conflict. Think about how purple (and even red) states are structured: highly populated urban areas are largely liberal, while smaller rural areas are more conservative. Conflict would likely have to occur between cities/counties, but infrastructure and division of resources would make that impossible to sustain, imo.

I think it’s also worth mentioning that (thanks to social media) many of those 100 people we see every hour are at least partially constructed/obscuring reality. I don’t imagine that was something our ancestors had to deal with regularly, if ever.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/22 03:34 PM

The problem, in my opinion, is the exploitation of those insecurities by companies seeking profits. Having insecurities and seeking to better ourselves is fundamentally human. Being surrounded by ads pushing products/methods to “help” us is not.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/22 03:25 PM

Our ancestors weren’t bombarded with constant advertisements directly addressing their insecurities, weren’t encouraged to compare themselves to so many humans outside of their immediate circles, and weren’t so terribly isolated and disconnected from their local communities. They had it figured out, imo.

Lmao I’m 33 and I have one on a guy right now. It’s embarrassing. It started because my friend mentioned wanting to set me up with him, but that keeps getting delayed since he’s in the middle of moving…so now I just gotta sit here and build this entire fantasy life in my head until he finally turns me down or something.

Not everyone’s brain works the same way, so it was worth a shot imo. If you’re ever in a position to consider other therapeutic approaches, you might want to try them - if you’ve only done CBT, for example, and you find you don’t respond to that, there are other methods that may click for you (unsure how willing Medicaid is to work with you there - that’s a nasty hurdle). But whatever you end up doing, I hope it gets better for you. It’s a shit headspace to be stuck in.

Not a book rec, but have you tried gritting your teeth and saying/doing the opposite of what you’re feeling? We tend to assume behavior must follow feelings, but it’s often the other way around - our feelings will respond to our actions, given enough time/persistence. So when you are presented with a friend’s success, say “I’m happy for you.” Even if you don’t feel happy. Even if you want to throw up. Even if it’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told. Just say it, don’t worry about whether or not it…

I would argue that this is a human problem, not a gender problem. People in general struggle to compassionately and respectfully handle emotions from other individuals if those emotions do not “fit” their expectations. It takes work to offer empathy when someone is not reacting the way we “think” they should - when their emotions are particularly difficult, messy, or about a subject we would rather not discuss. Emotions should never be considered attractive or unattractive - they simply exist, a…

Was martial arts the best thing that happened to you because it was a physical expression of anger, or because it taught you discipline and the value of structure? Oh I understand it’s not you, I mean more general “you.” But in my opinion, no, violence is never a good release of anger. I think a punching bag is a good release of general energy, sure. Same as any exercise. But someone training their brain in a pattern of “anger -> violent action -> relief” is never a good thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/07/22 01:07 AM

IMO in a moment like that, giving into the anger is the worst thing you can do - it reinforces the behavior as a viable pattern, so the next time you are angry, your brain will be more likely to say “we need to hit things.” I think it’s much better to do the opposite of what your emotions are asking. If they are asking you to scream and punch things, sit quietly and breathe deeply. It sounds cliche, but repeating a mantra or some scripture (if you are religious) helps. Counting, recitation, mult…

I don’t understand the question. If you mean how should he regulate his emotions: the same way the rest of the world does. Put the work in. Question every last cognitive process. Don’t let your emotions dictate your actions, recognize anger as a temporary state of activation, acknowledge and work through the actual painful emotions that the anger is masking. It’s not easy, but it’s important work for self-growth and maturity.

It’s far too nuanced to say. Certain cultures prioritize multigenerational households, and it is never seen as inappropriate. A person with a disability may live with their parents their whole life, and it is never inappropriate. A person’s parents maybe develop Alzheimer’s, health issues, etc. requiring that their child move back home to take care of them late in life, and it would not be inappropriate.

/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/22 02:50 PM

The Supreme Court has expressed their intention to revisit sodomy as one of their upcoming rulings. That means anal and oral sex could be criminalized as well, so saying you will only have non-PIV sex may become difficult.

Humans are hypocritical by nature. It is not worth expending energy on. And I don’t view the hypocrisy as a problem when it can be easily avoided in one’s personal life.

Q4M: I’m sure this has been asked before, but how would you navigate casual sex (or really any sex) if oral contraception and IUDs were banned in most states? Even if you are not sexually actively presently, but were in a position to do so later, how do you assume you would navigate that? Would a condom provide enough peace of mind for you? Do you foresee yourself getting a vasectomy under those circumstances?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/22 02:37 PM
3

I don’t think anyone should be particularly shocked. They’ve been very blatant about their intentions for quite a while. This is, however, why I am confused by men who don’t seem bothered by RvW. I imagine men will be marginally more upset when casual sex becomes impossible, or is made illegal in and of itself. Sodomy may be criminalized as well, regardless of gender. But RvW is the potential catalyst for all of it.

“A thousand times more SMV” seems like an exaggeration. As a low SMV woman, I really don’t believe I am far removed from the experience of the average man, from the way men talk about things here. So non-PIV sex, masturbation (probably extending to sex toys), sexual activity outside of marriage, etc. would all logically follow, if we want to assume the worst.

Assuming you’re still attracted to your partner, would it have to impact your current relationship at all? I understand wanting to come out and make it part of your identity - in which case, just talk to your partner about it - but I personally see no reason to actually act on it.

I get confused about this as a woman as well. I have heard that being overly nice to a man I’m interested in makes me seem needy/too easy, that I shouldn’t do “relationship shit” before I’m in a relationship. But it’s completely counterintuitive to the way I’m wired. When I like someone, I want to make them feel special and pampered. I want to go above and beyond for them, and make their life happier, even if it’s just a crush. I don’t really know how to navigate that. But it’s very frustrating,…

Mine was one of the earliest comments on the thread. I haven’t been back to read the others yet. Sorry I didn’t comment in a manner that preemptively addressed such evidence.

In the present year, is HOH tax filing status a reliable indicator of whether or not individual family systems are structured patriarchally?

Is this a specific demographic of women, though? In terms of cultural background, current lifestyle, age, so on. Even using social media in and of itself sets them apart from a significant number of women all around the word. Any of those factors might impact an individual’s maturity, self-awareness, expectations re: communication, etc. (and yes, gender may be one of those factors - but I am curious why it is the only factor being examined in this situation.)

What’s the sample size you’re using to determine this pattern? What are the ages and backgrounds of the individuals? Is gender really the only determining factor here?

Bloat lord is what I’m personally most attracted to, but I’m probably in the minority. Overweight is good, fat is also good. Obese is where I start to say no. Built fat is okay, but anything more cut than that is a no.

How far does it go? Do you think a religious/conservative virgin who is waiting until marriage will fuck a dude in the bathroom stall on the first date if he’s hot and charming?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
