I’m vegan and I dumped my “best friend” because she kept putting butter in food that she promised that she made “special” for me. We don’t need abusers in our lives.

I think even second date is way too soon to be giving anyone my address!

All the more reason to not give out your address to strangers on the internet!

My thoughts exactly. We each one of us needs to know our worth and expect to be treated “nicely” as the bare minimum. We demand better than the bare minimum though, so, bye boy!

I had this happen to me. He ended up being a deeply insecure person whose manifestation of that insecurity was as covert narcissism. He love bombed me at first, then later started making comments to make me feel bad about my physique and how it wasn’t appealing. (he was a very petite man, and I am an average sized woman) My weight is and was within the “healthy BMI” range and I exercise at home. As things had been a little dull between us, I suggested a date night. He sneered and said that he di…

That’s a real bummer work situation! I would like to encourage you to adjust how you write about yourself in this situation though. You wrote “men” to describe them and “female” to describe yourself. We have a word for adult human female that humanizes you: woman. Remember that language is power.

These covid times are really scary. I’ve had four covid scares this summer (got tested four times for it) and will not entertain the idea of socializing indoors where the general public is anymore, especially in places were people are taking off their masks to eat. If he was scared of covid, he could have clarified why he was against her suggestions, but he didn’t so we have very little info to go on. In any case, thank you for taking covid seriously. I hope we all remain safe regardless of what…

Crap like this has happened to me. Guys in their early 20s typically have no clue.

Some of us aren’t just assuming. Some of us are recovering from r/NarcissisticAbuse Some/many of us learned the hard way. Most of the time it isn’t just assumptions. Most of the time it’s learning to stay away from personality traits that we have seen before. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/ca/conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder%3famp

He’s trolling these days, but his earlier post and comment history shows he’s a boy. Edit: Just so you all know, he replied to my comment before the post was deleted, and so the reply isn’t showing up here anymore. He said, “I was a girl in this post.” That’s some verbiage that a man pretending to be woman uses. We don’t only exist in posts, and aren’t only women online.

This is a dude. Earlier in his posting history he had a “are we as attractive as each other” post and got mad that someone commented on his hair.

Thank you for your detailed answer. The in-person portion really does sound crucial.

Just for curiosity/clarity: was he like this since the very beginning? What kinds of things did you see/did he do that made it clear that somehow he wasn’t stringing you along, and showed he was still worth your time? Did you meet in person?

Dude. Chill. I thought you might find it interesting. Sorry you already saw it. Yeah. You said “commitment”. OP said both commitment and marriage. Many commitments end up being very similar to marriage. And sometimes, a woman just knows she doesn’t want to couple-up. Maybe forever, maybe for just now. But there’s nothing wrong with deciding not to be in a committed relationship.

Right? Are people not allowed to have different life goals from one another? And some of us have “been there done that”, gave it a try and realized that there wasn’t as much value-added to our lives as we were lead to believe.

Your “When you sleep with men look for these things” post has your user name attached. I don’t typically notice who posted because everyone is anonymous here. But after reading your earlier post (this one) I thought “oh! I saw some good advice that this person might have missed, I should share it with them.” That’s when I noticed the user name was yours for both. Edit: Yes, expecting basic hospitality should be expected. You gave the feeling in your post that perhaps the goals of this sub and yo…

I was about to link some really good advice that I just read this morning on this topic... until I realized it was you that had posted it! I’m currently in the same boat. I’ve been married and now I’m single. I made mistakes in my youth, but now that I’m “older and wiser”, my standards are higher. I’m not interested in being married again, and I like the freedom of being single. A previous commenter mentioned meeting a few high quality dicks and rotating through them. I think I agree. Though, I …

Honey! Get out of there! You’re allowed to care about people, but nothing says you need to put up with emotional abuse. Extract yourself from this situation and heal your head and your heart. PTSD is an explanation for the abuse, but it sure as hell isn’t an excuse for you to have to endure it. Edit: it isn’t your job to fix him. It isn’t your responsibility to carry his burden. And it isn’t fair, right, or ok for him to take any of it out on you. That man needs therapy. And hun, after the abuse…

After reading that article I put this exact quote on a post-in at my desk to look at each day! And I texted it to my best friend (and sent her the article). So good. Did you read my original comment? I already pointed you towards another sub that is open to those discussions. Presuming that the entirety of a person is limited to the content of one sub is really narrow minded and doesn’t allow for a complete and complex person. I was just originally pointing out that this sub is women’s only. Other subs can and do have those conversations. Go troll somewhere else.

My previous response still stands: Good grief! Edit: Maybe omitting the super-unnecessary “buck up” might make me take you more seriously. But as it stands, by putting other peoples experiences down, you aren’t making your point stronger.

In this particular sub the rule is women only. Other subs like r/feminism don’t have that rule and can include men in the discussion. But, respecting women, respecting a rule we made about having a women’s-only space, is kind of the point. If they can’t even respect us in this little corner of the aether, how can we trust that they can respect us in every other space? Edit: Especially meaning the ones that go out of their way to make their male voice heard in a women’s space.

I’ve unfortunately been that woman. What a waste of time. He thought I’d want to stick around and listen to comments about how girls of other ethnicities are so attractive? Give me a fucking break! How about you tell the woman you are currently with how wonderful she is. Now he’s single, and I’m still awesome.
