Thank you! I honestly always forget that Reddit is so international. I will use this going forward.

Just to be clear, you’re not an inconvenience. You haven’t inconvenienced anybody. Nobody was forced to comment on this post. Just random Internet strangers trying to help. It might be worthwhile to look into some DBT skills. A really easy thing that you can do is pick out just one positive thing about yourself and complement yourself on it. Try for one physical and one nonphysical a day. Just look in the mirror and tell yourself that X looks good today and that you are good at Y. Just keep sayi…

Hey, I’m sorry to hear that you feel like this. Some other commenters have said it as well, but I don’t think that anybody here is really equipped to help you the way that you may need help. Regardless, I think you should probably step away from social media and online communities as much as possible right now. It sounds like your discord “friends“ are not really great people. I don’t know if you have people in real life that you can talk to, but that would be my number one suggestion. Barring t…

Thank you for your level headed response. If it’s any help, I think we would love an update in a month or so if you end up making any or even just minor changes. I think this sub could really do a lot of good and I personally would love to see more people sharing their journey of getting help and having a book club, but for therapy, where people discuss their therapy topics and therapy homework and how it’s affected them and other positive coping strategies. I’d like to see more of the ex and le…

Between this post and your previous post explicitly stating that you are struggling with several forms of addiction and possibly depression, I don’t think it is realistic to assume you can get out of this alone. I understand that you have had negative experiences with therapists in the past, but I would try again. Sometimes it takes a long time before finding the right one, but it will be worth it in the end. I understand that you don’t think it’s something you can DBT or CBT out of, but realist…

Do you mind explaining a little more about your social awkwardness? Could you provide specific instances where you feel as though your social interactions impeded your dating life? Have you been on any dates? Although I do think that some personality traits are relatively universally attractive, I don’t know that I agree that positive masculinity adds to the pre-existing list of traits for current masculinity. I think much of the movement is about embracing who you are and allowing yourself to f…

I’m not qualified enough to speak on the statistics as far as who is or is not more likely to become an incel, but if I had to guess, abuse is probably a big factor. I think these kinds of toxic mentalities, whether they be incel or black pill or whatever other kind of pill people are taking nowadays, are always to deal with certain kinds of trauma. They make a bad coping mechanism, but are a coping mechanism nonetheless. For example, your dad seems to have picked two very horrible women and doe…

You should probably completely remove that word from your vocabulary. The quotes do not help. If you’re asking if you can be attractive, yes, but no one can guarantee you can be a “Chad“. The whole concept of a Chad is flawed.

I wrote a whole paragraph describing what I mean. It’s in the comment you’re replying to. Not sure what wasn’t clear there.

The “looks match” trap seems to get a lot of people. They establish a rubric for attractiveness and base their whole understanding of themselves and other peoples dating choices on this 1 number which while not completely subjective, is far from objective. There’s a bunch of redpill types that are stereotypically attractive or at least not unattractive who cannot be convinced that they are anything but the lowest of the low, so ugly they shouldn’t have been born etc. Its really sad first off to …

Are you trolling right now? I can’t tell at this point. I don’t know how I could be more clear.

She was in a happy marriage though. A good friend of hers just thought that he could steal her away from her marriage by confessing his love. She doesn’t speak to him anymore because he didn’t respect her marriage. She seems happy enough to me. What part of this makes you think she was not happy?

That’s a really weird generalization. If anything, women in relationships would have more reason to be upset about this kind of thing. I have a friend of mine whose wedding I went to lose someone that she introduced as a brother to basically the entire wedding party because after her marriage he decided to admit that he was in love with her. Completely valid to go online and rant about how betrayed she felt.

So, I don’t know your life obviously, but I can say that perception and facts are completely different and people are notoriously bad at this kind of analysis. Your willingness to originally state that it is fact and then you walking it back should probably be a good indicator of that. I don’t know what your therapist is telling you, but if you do have one and they are telling you that the big issue is your looks here, you should probably get a new therapist. The OP does not seem to have a probl…

If that is the case, which I’m not saying it is, but if so, I still don’t think it says what you think it says about women in general. It may be the halo effect, which applies to both sexes, making men that are more attractive seem inherently safer. If a woman perceives a man to be a lower risk of danger to herself she may be more willing to expressed interest. If she thinks that he has many options, she may feel as though he would be less likely to force her into something if she was not intere…

There is similarly the shy boy stereotype that a bunch of people love and relate to. I think it all depends on the way that you do it. If you sit in a corner scowling and are upset and being judgmental of everybody that is not in a corner, yeah that probably comes off as not super friendly. If you’re sitting in the corner playing with the dog or by the table with food just enjoy your own company or looking around, then I think a lot of people can relate to that. I know that’s where I would be in…

So, some of your responses are not really the best, but I am going to engage in good faith here. Not liking women because they are not actively giving you attention is probably not the best way to go about things. Obviously, you’re welcome to do you, but most of the reason that women do not go out of their way to give men attention are indeed societal. Generally, women are shamed for their sexuality. Additionally, approaching random men can be pretty unsafe for women. They are not actively tryin…

Although there are definitely groups where that attitude is more common, generally in progressive spaces, appearing safe is more of a long term thing. It sounds like you already have female friends, so possibly asking them what makes them feel “safe” around you or as though they can confide in you would be a good start. I think it is generally very personality dependent. There are several, often contradicting, ways to make somebody feel safe. I think the number one is just appearing genuine. It’…

I don’t have much to contribute regarding your overall question, but I think plenty of people can answer why it doesn’t work that way. In general, women are shamed for being sexual creatures. Additionally, women are never sure if a specific person is safe. A combination of not wanting to experience societal backlash and not being sure how the person will react is a pretty solid reason not to approach strangers and profess attraction.

I’m not sure if this is the place to mention it, but r/MensLib is a good start. I think a lot of progressives agree that it’s normal and healthy to need a place to discuss issues with people that understand your life experience, but conservatives take this to a really toxic place and non-political people don’t realize the larger societal implications of the lack of male spaces. Although it has a very different ideological lean to the red and black pills it’s clearly men working on identifying me…
