My dad basically bought or handed me down all of the tools I own. I learned everything I know about fixing shit from that guy. We built a new clutch together when I was 16/17. Then he gets offended that I didn’t ask him to come over and help me install my new garbage disposal and dishwasher.

Oh wow. This actually just happened to me recently. A while my friend became single and wanted to go out for girls nights. We went a couple times and guys usually end up talking to us. I had a boyfriend but I would make conversation because I knew she liked the attention after leaving a bad relationship. She would constantly make fun of me in front of men. I’m not easily embarrassed so I can take it and laugh it off and chalk it up to her being tipsy. But after a couple times I had to tell her k…

My boyfriend and I just broke up. I went NC. Every time I get the urge to send him a meme or text him my feelings, I send it to my good friend. She doesn’t get half the memes, so it’s not exactly the same. But it makes me feel good to know I have someone like her who loves me enough to try that hard to be supportive for me.

I don’t feel guilty at all. But I have stopped calling him out on it because the rest of my family sticks up for him and tells me I am being disrespectful and ungrateful.

This is a hard one. My dad displays traits from both HVM and LVM. He always puts my mom first. He does things for her without her having to ask. He will wake up at 5 am mid winter to brush snow off her car and shovel the driveway. He always makes sure she has money in her account so she can buy something if she sees anything she likes whenever she goes out. He gets her beautiful gifts even when she says she doesn’t want anything. But he is also really mean when he gets mad. He’s emotionally abus…

If I knew my guy was flying in I’d either make sure I got some sleep and got all my shit done so I could scoop him and take him home and put his ass to bed... or I’d be too excited to sleep and have enough adrenaline pumping through me to literally piggy back him home. Why isn’t he excited for you to be back? Why doesn’t he want to see you that badly? Hm. I wonder. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Time. It’s ok to let your heart break a little. You’re feeling bad about yourself right now but I think consciously you know that you are worthy. Don’t wallow in the depths of your sadness, but it’s ok to feel it and work through it. Eventually you will get back to steady place you were in before. You coped with heartache before, you can do it again.

I almost stopped reading at the part where you said he used to pick on you. I mean, that’s where you should have stopped. The moment he reached out to you you should have blocked him. Even if he’s changed, even if he’s sorry, he doesn’t deserve a moment of your time.

I see that many of you did not read the article. The title is obviously click bait. She makes an interesting case. Although I wouldn’t ever view porn with my children, I do think it is important for them to know that it is a performance and that real life sex is not like that.

This is probably the best post I’ve read on this sub. So what is my life motto. This is what I say to my girl friends who are complaining about their boyfriends. Even my friend who is in a bad, bad roommate situation with a “very good friend” and his ignorant, narcissistic gf. Ultimately, their need to not be alone usually wins over all.

You don’t have to trust them. Learn to trust yourself. Trust your instincts, trust the knowledge you’ve gained from past experiences, and trust that you are capable of coping with loss and heartache without letting it take anything away from you. Even if it happens again, and again, and again, and again.

I am generally the one who doesn’t ask questions. I guess I just don’t think to for the most part. Anything I might want to know about someone I will probably learn through conversation organically. I find it annoying when men ask me a series of prompted questions on dates.

Here’s an idea: Be. Honest. Tell him during the second date that you got the vibe that he wanted to kiss you on the first date, that, although, you’ve enjoy his company and/or like him, you are just not ready for that kiss yet. This is a good way to find out if he respects you and your boundaries. If he doesn’t, neither of you are wasting anymore of each other’s time.

I know y’all are hell bent against cheap dates so this’ll probably get downvoted into oblivion; but I accepted a date from a guy who asked me to go on a walk. We met at a park I’d never been to that had a huge nature center. We hiked for almost the whole day, he brought lunches that he made and tons of water. We climbed trees and made a fort with a bunch of fallen logs. It was cheap as fuck but probably one of the funnest dates I’ve ever been on.

If you have time to think about him, your goals arent inspiration enough. Absolutely! I know it’s easier said than done, but get him out of your head completely. If you have to, grieve the loss of your time and energy, and then move on. If you lost your job, would you continuously check up on your former employer to see how they are managing without you?

Yeah, I mean, what are you hoping to see? If he misses you or regrets hurting you, he’s not gonna post about it publicly anyways. Chances are, he’s posting shit that makes him look like he’s better than ever and it’s just going to perpetuate your negativity towards yourself or make you want to be with him again. When you break up, cut ties and block everything. For your own damn good.

So much this. I have found ways to weed out whether a guy is a decent person and will still be good in bed. Also, when entering into “hoe phase” you have GOT to have your head on straight. You’re there for fun, not to hopefully be swept off of your feet. If your expectation is to turn a hook-up into a relationship, you’re gonna have a bad time. I had a lot of fun while dating around. Because I never did anything I didn’t want to do and did all the things I DID want to do. I wasn’t there to fall …

It’s probably pretty difficult to pick out a narcissist off the bat. They are generally easy going, fun, full of charisma. And they know how to make you feel good about yourself. You should always be on the lookout for red flags though.

There’s a guy I was into a few years ago who I honestly still believe he loved me. I completely understand the internal war between his ego and his insecurities. I’ve been there. And I understand how or why a woman would justify getting less by thinking he’s just insecure or maybe he’s been hurt, etc. But the thing is... it’s not my problem. It’s not problem he’s insecure. I didn’t even know what FDS was until pretty recently. I just know that I am pretty awesome all around. Some people can see it. And those are the people I want to keep in my life. Plus, I have a serious empathy deficiency so it’s a breeze to cut out the people who can’t see it. 🤷‍♀️

That’s the thing... I am (maybe only slightly) below average looking. I do have a big personality, but I’m not very feminine, sexy, or flirtatious. But men, attractive, intelligent, rich, men will chase me if I don’t give a shit about their attention. I tried for years to get my former roommate to stop being a pick-me and get on my wave length. I’ve had men take me on lavish vacations, send flowers to my office, feed me at expensive restaurants, pay my fucking bills. And I don’t even have to pre…

I don’t even think it’s intentional, honestly. They’ve been hurt so they want someone to fix it for them. Which a lot of people seem to think they need. I have been hurt too! I don’t put the weight of my pain and insecurities on others. No one should have to put up with that. Instead of wanting a new partner to do or not do certain things to suit you better, maybe try working on your damn self. I’m exhausted just thinking about this.

Yes, I would never recommend a woman settle for FWB when she wants a relationship. But that comes down to her being honest with herself. I know women who will say they don’t want a relationship but you can tell they really do. Those are the ones who fall for dumbass FWB.

The thing about damaged men is that you will put more effort into not being like his ex. You may even start accepting unacceptable things in order to prove that you’re not like her and that you won’t hurt him or judge him. If you can stand your ground and not put up with his insecurity projections, maybe. But I’d say probably not.

I had quite a different experience with FWB. When I wasn’t looking for a relationship I had a handful of FWB. One of them ended up becoming one of my best friends (we stopped sleeping together) and one of them did all of the things a boyfriend should do, took me on dates, vacations, texted me when we weren’t hooking up, hung out with my friends, remembered my birthday, etc. But most of my FWB ended up dumping me because I didn’t want to get more serious with them or because I didn’t pay them eno…

Last time I agreed to a “just drinks” date, he didn’t even ATTEMPT to pay for my first beer. I drank it while he awkwardly asked me odd questions about myself that I gave cryptic answers too. Then excused myself to have a cigarette. I texted a friend who I knew was nearby and while waiting for a response this guy outside started talking to me. A few minutes later my date came out looking for me, just in time to see me leave with that other guy on his motorcycle.

Happens all the time: out with friends, or at a social gathering, guy starts talking to me, I’m flirting back a bit, some other girl (be it one of my friends or not) starts butting in on the attention I’m getting. I’m done. I will still be friendly towards the guy, and I don’t make a scene, but my interest has disappeared completely. The entire song kinda sends mixed signals, doncha think? Like, she’s non-committal and will also help you with your career but she’ll never be a side chick. It’s been quite some time so it’s hard to think back on their particular behavior but that could very well be. I suppose I wouldn’t necessarily ditch the HVM title due to lack of longevity, and I was actually the one to ghost. They just didn’t chase. Which I think would have made me consider them LVM or at least lose respect for them. Maybe my disappearing defense mechanism is immature but I certainly wasn’t going to exploit my insecurities by having a conversation about them 😅

I was actually just thinking about this kind of thing this morning. I virtually have NO friends. I have some people from derby that I like and get along with. But I have no girl friend to call up and go out with or just to talk shit or gush about stuff to. I have essentially distanced myself from all of my female friends over the last few years. Still, this isn’t really a fool-proof method of determining his size. Genetics has a lot to do with it too. I have dated men with long fingers and noses who had fairly average to small size penises. Also, if he checks all of your other boxes, AND if there is sexual chemistry, but it’s literally just his size, I think it’s worth finding ways around it. 🤷‍♀️

I can reasonably see why in that kind of situation. A lot of those women have been in those relationships for a long time and either feel like they have invested too much to walk away or they cling to a false hope that someday it will be like it once was.

You know how the red pill guys are always talking about protecting their money and assets, getting prenups and shit? Women need to start hopping on that boat sooner. Men and women aren’t that much different when it comes to being greedy. If they are the type of person to do this kind of shit, they will, whether they’re a man or a woman. Protecting yourself doesn’t have to mean complete lack of trust. It’s just a security measure.

Based on his website, he’s probably a work-aholic. He’s 47, it’s hard to believe he’s just now ready to settle down. Plus he doesn’t even mention what he’s looking for as far I read.

Actually, quite the opposite! It was used just to describe someone who spun yarn, which were mostly women in the middle ages. They often used a persons trade as a last name back then (like baker, or taylor). But, generally, married women had the better jobs in the spinning trade because they had better access to the market through their husbands so it was the single, lower status women who did the actual spinning. Eventually it was used as a legal term to refer to unmarried women.

Smh My cousins ex husband saw her driving down the street the day after she announced she was divorcing him. Their two children were in the back seat of her car. He did a U Turn in the middle of oncoming traffic, chased her down. She called her grandfather on her cell as he lived near where she was. He opened the garage door for her. They were gonna close her in it and call the police. The soon to be ex husband caught up before the garage door closed. Had a Louieville Slugger in his truck, pulls…

In 2013 my husband's ex (23F) assaulted her younger brothers girlfriend who was 16 at the time. The girl supposedly was "talking shit" about her. She attacked the girl, who is half black and half white, by jumping on her while she was asleep, pounding her in the face, and calling her a nigger. She even went against her probation by contacting the girl via Facebook and threatening her again. She got no jail time and 6 months probation and the charge was taken off her record after completing her p…

I understand why you would be afraid. And it's disgusting and devastating that you need to be. But in today's world, men need to protect themselves against accusations.

I see this type of situation all too often. Even some of my dear friends and family members are appalled that my kids' day care teacher is a man. (A man which my husband and I adore!!) And we're often asked if he is homosexual. (I have no idea, nor do I care.) There is nothing sexual or homosexual about a man loving children and wanting to be a part of their development!!! I'm so grossed out out by the ignorance that still exists in today's society.

This!!! My husbands ex was physically abusive towards him. Recently she got into a fight with someone and basically got off the hook Scott free because she had no prior REPORTEDLY history.

This. Dads are only good for child support and babysitting once mom gets a new boyfriend.

I originally joined r/mensrights because my husband is a victim of the American family court system and I was looking for anything I could find to help him with his fight to be a father to his own son.

I'm not looking at context at the moment. I may have commented on the wrong comment. But you're right they all have basically the same options. But it is a way for men to protect themselves in the long run. And it's sad to have to say that they need to.

Aren't vasectomies reversible? Also, an expensive medical procedure for men who don't want bastard children.

I agree that men should be able to walk away up until a certain point without being on the line for child support or labeled a deadbeat. It should be more socially acceptable for a man to have a choice when it comes to unplanned parenthood. I think we'd have a lot more rooms in the county jail for one. But I realized in my own experiences with family court (being on both ends as a mom and a step mom) they just as corrupt and money grubbing as the rest of the government.

The whole situation has been a complete nightmare. The court hearings are dragged on for months and months. They were never married. The mother is very hostile, and though she has threatened not only mine and my husbands lives, she has threatened the lives of my children, we have physical evidence of her threats, and nothing happens. We are denied a restraining order, etc. The mother was in jail for assault and battery at the beginning of the year, and my husband filed for emergency temporary cu…

Thank you for this. I think it is probably the best option to have an attorney send and email or make a call. My husband does not have any type of legal or physical custody. However, our state legislature does state that he has a right to access his son's information even if he does not have any form of custody. CHILD CUSTODY ACT OF 1970 (EXCERPT) Act 91 of 1970 722.30 Access to records or information by noncustodial parent. Sec. 10. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a parent shall not…

I'd like to hear more about the part where mom fucked up and you obtained custody. My brother filed for sole custody just today because his sons mother has been fucking up. In August she hit her brothers girlfriend, and called her a nigger. (The girl is 17 and half balck/half white.) There was a warrant out for her since then. In October she hit her own mother, who called the cops and she was arrested on the warrant. After she was bailed out, her bond conditions stated no contact with the victim…

Sad that most are so power hungry. Children suffer. I am a "baby mama" myself. And my ex is a real piece of work... but I'd never try to come between my kids and him. They don't know what a douche he is. I pick up all the slack he leaves so they never have a clue.
