I feel this only applies to certain cities or towns. Perhaps smaller towns? I don’t feel this way about living in a big city but I somewhat did in a smaller community.

I agree with OPs sentiments. I imagine wanting love but it feels pretty unrealistic. However I don’t want to be undesirable or lonesome. I don’t think that connection is really out there for me, but if I could actually believe that, I’d want that along with sex. So I guess sex is easier to do because it doesn’t have to (but can) mean anything. I dont want to be empty handed. Really good compatibility and communication on both parties seems rarer and more complicated. I’d love to have love but I …

Everybody loves to play the victim because the victim gains sympathy and is morally superior to the aggressor in every circumstance without question.

Thanks thats good to hear. I'll try to stay "sane" for everyone's sake. I really blame winter on this one right now.

Ah great thanks for the clarity. What I meant by having experiences is something like this: I can walk in the woods and draw pictures and love it sometimes, but I don't get the same open and active feeling as I do with communication. I can have a great range of thoughts while sitting quietly with my eyes closed appearing as if I was sleeping. Hmm. I'm having a difficult time explaining this. I guess it's kind of like trying to tickle yourself. I agree and understand what you said regarding the g…

I understand and am working with one. I just wanted to know how other people with similar understandings find ways to work around their issues.

Thanks for the discussion everybody. I'm really interested in what people have to offer. I'm actually working on an plan to move elsewhere, though it proves to be be logistically difficult as of yet. eventually i'll take a loss somewhere and say fuck it to take a risk. Winter, isolation, and generally unrewarding (though it is fitting and sometimes ideal) work are the negative outside variables here. I have plans and goals to meet but the fatigue from the mentioned issues drive me crazy. Not exc…

Oh man. This sounds familiar. Seriously, best of luck to you as we try to make the best of everything without biting and clawing our way. I agree with the way you take advice, of just finding out how it works. I am afraid of turning into somebody, molded by negative factors like resentment and whatever the fuck else is in my head, and losing my friends when it's really one of the things I find valuable in life.

Thanks. Yeah, I like discovering new things like you were saying. I find that a good way to keep my mind productive. I appreciate your respectful point of view, really. Wikipedia is the best for looking up everything, then reading the related links and so on. Ever heard the quote by Kubrick? The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent; but if we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of…

Thanks. I'll try. Lenny and Carl chant "Who likes short shorts?" I really took something away from that. In seriousness I was introduced to the idea that it doesn't matter what is said as long as it's a mantra by listening to Alan Watts. He's great if you're unfamiliar and some people have put relaxing youtube clips of his lectures, perfect for a hungover Sunday.

Active, but not active enough. I work, then go exercise and skateboard in the rec space. Getting better at things I like to do are good but yeah, I lack positive socially activity in the winter. Need to work on that. Thanks.

Ah, thanks for your input. Seems we share some of the same dilemmas disrupting thought. Tunnel vision is a very fitting description. It looks as if stepping away from myself would greatly help. Of course, sometimes it's like staying up all night hoping to go to sleep.

Thanks. I have read "Wherever You Go There You Are" and found that valuable even thought I haven't yet applied the words to good use yet. It's a funny lesson when you think of the phrase "See for yourself." Oh, now I get it. My favorite part of that book was a [haiku written by Kobayashi Issa] The man pulling radishes pointed my way with a radish.

Hmm. Interesting. These are however, thoughts of my own. Having more friends and more interactions made my life more interesting to me finding more inspiration and new angles. For me, when life is more vibrant through a number of matters being social interactions, new experiences and the like, the mind becomes more curious which allows me to wonder about new ideas. I'm not just talking about innovation, but also looking at things differently. Over the summer on a long drive, I tried to chronolog…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
