I'm 30 years old and i rent. I own a house too but i rent my primary residence. Why? I live in state i dont intend to settle down in. I like having very minimal responsibility for the house. Its more expensive but not having to buy and then sell my house when I move is a massive convenience. And if a storm knock over a tree onto the house i go to a hotel and someone else has to deal with it. Its a paid convenience for someone too busy to deal with it.
