Thanks for this post. Last week, I was struggling with "am I doing this right?" "What are the rules for how to respond to this?" kind of stuff. You summed it up nicely. There are no prescriptions. We learn from the source materials (all that on the sidebar more) and apply as is congruous with what each of us wants out of life/what makes us happy. You helped me to that conclusion. Thanks.

I guess context is everything. No. I see where you're going there though...

Hope is good, I suppose.

Nope. I've spent a good deal of my life being uncomfortable telling most anyone "no". I'm pushing past that now.

My "self improvement" was driven from my own desire to have control over my own life. That ideal that I'm striving for? It comes from multiple views on how things could be different in my life than they were. So, I think I'm driving in the right direction.

You are not wrong. I started down this road before knowing the RP concepts existed simply by working to improve myself. She was/is not part of that plan. This weekend, I found myself becoming more comfortable with stfu and simply telling her "I'm not interested in this conversation/argument". It takes a while to get comfortable with the new water temperature, I guess.

True. Hoping to not flail about. It seems that I have two alternate end goals that cannot occupy the same time/space. Either I gain her respect and affection or I get out of this relationship. That's why I'm here.

Need to read this one next. I was searching for the audiobook because I've usually got one audio and one traditional book going at a time.

Amazing timing. Just after I posted, I stumbled on the "Shit Test Encyclopedia" and the formalized concept of agree and amplify. There really is an answer for everything. Thanks.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
