We met through a mutual friend at a college party. I invited the friend, and he asked if my now-husband could come. We hit it off pretty much immediately.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but you must realize that the sample size you're citing to condemn all women everywhere is both Too small to be representative Flawed. All these women had one very important thing in common--you. I'm not saying they cheated because of you, but the fact that they all were with you means you logically can't use them as representative of all women in all relationships everywhere.

...because safety? What are you afraid of happening?

This thought process reminds me of myself when I had unmedicated anxiety and hadn't gone to therapy yet. OP, it sounds like you may need to do some internal healing. People, including women, are generally nice. Regular people will not mock you or call the cops if you start a conversation with them or hit on them (assuming you're not being aggressive and/or gropey). The most likely "bad" outcome is that she'll tell you she has a boyfriend already or that she's not interested in dating.

I totally agree that he won. I just hated listening to the sexist asshats rambling on.

Agreed on the format! It was so frustrating when some of the "debaters" would just get up there and monologue in his direction. They need a chess timer or something, lol.

You won't be everyone's cup of tea, but you'll likely be the right one's. My husband is super shy and I thought it was really cute and it made it less intimidating for me to flirt with him.

Kind of similar to how extremely toxic ideas are taking place in evangelical communities. You make everything from sex to casual dating to kissing forbidden or at least censured, so they don't end up making opposite-gender friends, because that might "look bad". Then you add in a shit economy and toxic patriarchal ideals they're not going to be able to live up to, and of course a lot of them end up red-pilling.

I'm glad things are going better for you! I've heard from a lot of women that they'll often go on dates with men who talk the whole time and don't ask the woman anything about herself. I wonder if some of that is the man trying to "show his worth"? (Not saying you did that, it's just something I hadn't thought of before!)

I disagree on that, to be honest. I think that part of narrowing the field is finding who you want to spend time and effort on. I think you're putting too much emphasis on "The approach" and not enough on just getting to know the humans around you who have similar hobbies and interests.

Are you looking for the person you want to spend the rest of your life with? Because it sounds like you're aiming for notches on your bed post to brag about, which is inherently gross (whether those notches represent phone numbers, dates, or sex, it's all gross). If you're looking for a meaningful relationship, you should be trying to narrow down a field to find someone you're compatible with and who agrees with you. You sound like you're trying to do the opposite.

I think he's talking about a lot of dates in a very dehumanizing way.

It also depends on your age and the stage of life you're in. My husband had just dropped out of college and was living with his parents when we met, but he was only 21, so it wasn't a big deal to me. What did matter was (and not in this order): He smelled good (don't bathe in body spray, but don't be afraid of a single spritz of a nice cologne) and his clothes were kept clean. He was working a retail job while attending a technical training school. He had plans for the future and he wasn't just …

Of living?? Homie, there's so much more to the world. You can have positive, impact full relationships with the people around you. I've never seen you, but chances are good some women will find you hot, even if there's no jaw-dropping to it. You can volunteer, have a hobby, have a fulfilling career. You can likely have a family and a wife and a happy life. You don't need to be in the 1% of hotness to do any of that!

I'm sorry, but it's pretty unlikely to happen. There will be plenty of other good things in your life, but not everyone can experience everything.

If you're very handsome, attraction hits immediately. Once you're in a relationship, you start thinking of your partner as even more attractive. I think you're sad because you're never going to have women literally gasping over how hot you are, right? But honestly, most people don't.

This depends on what you're looking for, I think. If you want a relationship, yes, there are very, very hot nice men, but only so many of them! If you're looking for one-night stands, yeah, you're competing with a wider selection of men. Tbh, I got married kind of young and never did the ONS thing, so I have a lot less insight into that.

Nope! They felt way more attraction for the hot guy upon simply seeing him than they would feel for their future husband or whoever. Once you're in a relationship or evem just crushing on someone, they get exponentially hotter to you and your brain associates them with desire and pleasure. You don't need to be a Chad to have a passionate relationship.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
