Awesome post. You're exactly right. I've noticed that when things get out of whack, taking the time to have sex gets us both happier and we're more connected. It took me the first 5 years of my marriage to realize it but the last couple years have been so much happier because of it.

One of the best ways to avoid the temptation of those snacks is to pack yourself a lower calorie snack you like each day. Like a bag of apple slices and a little nutella or peanut butter for dipping. Then if snacks are offered to you, you can politely decline using your snack as an excuse. Maybe make the pastries a once a week treat or something though!

Try out standing when possible when you're working on your tasks and studying. If you're in a private place you can also do squats and such while you stand. That's how I combined a bit of exercise and education when I was still in school.

I have two goals for the month. First, I want to wean myself off mass amounts of cream and artificial sweetener in my coffee. In the same vein, I also want to stop drinking soda. Second, I want to make it to the gym or do a workout video at home at least 3 times per week. My husband returns from overseas next month and I want to keep my energy level high for our reunion. ;)

Don't let yourself sit around and mope. Make sure you do things to improve yourself and get yourself out there to interact with other people. If you are all alone at home, you'll have too much time to dwell. Separations suck, my husband is currently overseas for a while too. It's hard but it is definitely easier when you have things to keep you occupied. Sign up for a class, practice a hobby, etc. Get a gym membership and make it a goal to improve your fitness while he is away. Also, I highly re…

There is literally no reason other than keeping up with the Joneses. She sees something she likes better, bullies her husband into it, and voila. But that's pretty indicative of their marriage as a whole. :/

My husband and I spent less on our entire wedding than most of these people spent on their rings! I know a lady who upgrades her ring every so often...she has dropped over 10k on rings. I feel like you invest in your marriage with love, not with a large sparkly object. Not to say there is anything wrong with an expensive ring, just that it isn't a requirement or the only way to show commitment.

So, my advice is don't stretch yourself thin. Trying to do it all will make you excel at nothing and then you'll feel like a failure (because it's not realistic, IMHO) and that will make you an unhappy mom and wife. Thank you. That's been part of my problem. From reading all these responses I've realized I need to talk to my husband and see where his priorities lie.

I can't upvote this enough. Thank you. I'm going to follow your lead on the laundry. I'm most productive in the mornings I've found and it would keep me from putting it off until late at night when I could be doing better things...like my husband. ;) Love the meal planning and meal capsule idea too. It would keep me from scrambling. I love to cook but sometimes its so stressful to figure out what to cook that I'm a mess sometimes. Wonderful advice!

Talk with your husband about this. One semester is a short time and sometimes it's okay to let certain things go. When I was overwhelmed with my workload I opened up to my husband about it and asked him what was important to him. I will talk to him tonight and see what he feels is most important. Its nice to realize that in perspective one semester isn't long at all. My husband's wants and needs are above the kids' wants but not their needs. This is exactly what I meant. Thank you for articulati…

General clutter and laundry tend to be my problem. I think I'm going to try setting alarms to remind myself to put laundry in the washer, fold it, etc. Otherwise it really just slips my mind. A biggie is that I know I need to de-clutter. We have too much stuff. I just haven't had the time to get it done. It feels like I need more hours in the day, even though I know other people do way more than me with the same amount of hours. Thanks so much for your reply.

One thing I love is the My Fitness Pal app. It let's me track my caloric intake and make sure I'm on track. I think Piyo and biking for exercise are both awesome and fun. I have 3 boys under 4, so my exercise is sporadic, but I can always make a little by walking them to the park, playing tag, etc. Find little ways to work fitness into your day. Also, take a multivitamin every day if you don't already!!! They make such a difference in how I feel. Finally, water. Drink it. As often as possible, b…
