Not sure that's a gender thing, also if anything they are class self-conscious rather than real class consciousness in the traditional sense of the world.
I'm not sure I get the kindergarten thing since I think preschool is mandatory here or at least literally everyone does it so I couldn't really tell if there's a difference there. They do attempt to teach you some basic stuff here so it's supposed to be more than a daycare. I agree but I do have to say most peopleworldwide probably do live off of one income, at least in many parts having two jobs is seen as either desperate/needy or rarely as someone who's very passionate about whatever they're working on. It's an American thing.
