Partner selection is really important. You have to choose someone that truly respects your choice to stay home and sees value in it. Divorce laws in America are pretty fair to housewives. Your ex needs to pay you alimony payments for half the number of years you were together (if together for 10 years you get 5 years of alimony payments to get back on your feet)

I think if you talk about it with your wife you might be shooting yourself in the foot. I say this because being a ~~traditional wife and respecting your husband's authority is not popular in pop culture and like you said, has too many negative connotations. Do you think your husband would be open to submitting recipes he would enjoy to you? I think that alone would take a lot of the pressure off of you, even if he just picked 1 new one a week. My husband is the same way about cleaning. I do my best to not take it personally. I will say I got the cheapest roomba for Christmas (like $250 on sale) and it has helped a lot.
