My siblings and I were raised to not cry in situations like this because our family considered it rude and inconsiderate. Crying like this in the backseat of your Uber makes the driver feel uncomfortable. We were told to wait til we were in private if we needed to cry about something like this.

I feel like you left out the shows where the jocks, nerds, burnouts, etc. were not so rigidly defined. Like shows on Nickelodeon and Disney and the movies from those two channels and whatnot. Also, you phrase your comment as if anyone who wasn’t involved in sports or cheerleading was a loser in high school. And I don’t remember that as being even close to true. In the end, most people I know are laughing at Seth Rogen’s character’s goofy-ass traits. I don’t know a single guy who would want to be…

Wait, what? Do we really idolize mediocre men any more or less than we did back then? (Keep in mind that I’m using “we” pretty liberally here). There were ultra-charismatic guys back in the day and there are now. There were also everyman goofs back then and now.
