I can see what you mean - but beer goggles are self induced, someone lying to you is not. I mean I can understand someone feeling hurt and violated if they are tricked into sex. It may not be rape, but its a shitty, immoral to do.

Kind of is. Since you're having sex under false pretenses, where you wouldn't otherwise have consented at all. I mean I don't think anyone would press charges, but I could understand their feeling violated.

Yes, definitely, if the situation calls for it. But if the mother is only serving a short sentence, and wants to/is able to have custody on release, it's more of an issue. It's a parental bonding thing - that's part of the reason for maternity leave, that and the healing process from squeezing a human being out of your body. I'm not agreeing with the article, by the way, just clarifying that motherhood does cause complications because of the child's rights and needs, and the mother's medical and…

I think it's the key time post-birth that is the issue, at what point is it best to separate mother and child (if you want the children to form healthy and stable attachments and grow up to become well-adjusted adults.) Of course the argument is 'if you were worried about caring for your baby, you shouldn't have committed a crime', but I'd counter that there are other issues involved in criminal justice and imprisonment, making it less clear-cut than than if you don't want the time don't do the …

I am fairly certain that we will never agree on this issue. The way we view feminism and the causes of equality differ. But i do think we are after the same goal, just in different ways. Many of the sources you cite are doing the exact same thing against feminism that you claim feminism does against masculinity. Others are interesting and accurate in their raising of issue. I particularly like the video, but it is not necessarily a feminist caused problem, I'd suggest that the media tend to be wi…

Coming from the feminist community, I am not familiar with Toxic Masculinity, I have not read the article in question. Hegemonic Masculinity is a thing, yes, as you so aptly describe, it is the presence of masculinity as the dominant in specific context. By the same token, hegemonic heterosexuality is a thing, because historically speaking they are what has been dominant. Gender is fluid and of course there are aspects of both masculinity and femininity in both men and women. It is an unfortunat…

I wouldn't say that feminists think the problem is caused by masculinity. Masculinity is a great thing, just as femininity is. It is more that Patriarchal social systems have negative effects on men as they do on women. It is the social construct of men as powerful, tough and the rejection of male weakness that is the problem. That is where the whole "Man-up" concept comes from. Its a very sad thing that some people actually consider men to have less problems. The problems are different, but of …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
