This was specific to the incident where the police were called twice. I watched it and thought both of them were lying. I don't know what actually happened, I doubt the jury came to a conclusion either but all they needed to see was that what was claimed in that particular article was false. I think they got that part right I just don't think that particular story caused $2M in damage.

Compensation is reimbursement for what happened. So if someone did $10k of damage to your car, the compensation would be $10k. Punitive is a punishment, it is not mandatory, the jury does not have to award any unless they think the person deserves to pay more than the damage they actually caused. The statement she won in particular had was about a statement that was pretty clearly an angry lashing out thing, and unlike the others there wasn't much evidence it was true. I think the damages they awarded her over it was too high though, I don't think that statement did anywhere near $2mil of damage.

I had the same experience but I took a vacation in a very rural and underpopulated region and surprisingly things are very different there. Men and women approach more or less as equals, after a week on Tinder I had 40 matches and hooked up twice in one week with girls that wouldn't have looked twice at me back home. I'm really not sure what exactly caused it but seeing that a better, more equal culture is possible gave me hope that things could get better in other places as well.

Yeah pretty much. But the top is more like 10% of men/30-40% of women. That's my question. I think it's a cultural issue but I have no idea how to fix it. But I think it's a big issue that's being overlooked not because of mens sex drives but because if men and women can not date as equals, they can not treat each other as equals. Canada's self defense laws are very anti-defense. In this case the issue is probably escalation of force as in Canada you can't defend a non-lethal attack with a lethal one generally speaking. Although this is inconsistent and it depends on the region and court.
